JJ0063 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Not sure if you’ve seen this but this would have been onto an L I assume, being 94 but thought I’d post it out of its rarity! Edit: and the same car in 2017, wonder what went wrong egg, Marshall2810, KWhite and 4 others 4 3

sierraman Posted February 11 Posted February 11 If it’s as straight as what it looks like then £2,200 is nothing for that. A cheap one off Facebook isn’t worth doing anything with when they’re that price for something straight and original. There’s one for sale in Essex a 2.0 Ghia estate, £1,995, they’ve had it a while, I’m sure £1,700 would take it. Looked immaculate as well. Burnside and egg 2
Yoss Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Cor, look at those seats! You could stroke that velouriness all day long. This must be peak Mondeo. The Ghia probably had leather seats (at least as an option) but if anybody thinks any leather can be better than this they are just kidding themselves. Also has Swirly Trimz. That may not be the official name but you know what I mean. These were really stand out at the time. Alloy wheels might be more expensive but these really capture that period of time. My old boy used to pack his six piece Remo drumkit, cymbals and stands in the back with room for a young bornite in the passenger seat. Then Rob (mate) had a DERV in an unusual olive black colour that hauled his mobile discotheque to the local pub each week with him and two of us as pissed up passengers. Hope you’re good, Eggward. Lovely to see the old thing out and about. egg and Burnside 2

MantaGTE85 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 That was quite a car when it was new, an air-conditioned 2.0 GLX in Java Blue, although I believe the 2.0 was (ever so slightly) slated because the gearing was lower than the 1.6 and 1.8, making it quicker but slightly less refined. What were the 2.0 Automatic versions like? egg 1
egg Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 Booked mine in with a garage to have the lower front suspension arms done next week, not used them before, so we'll see how we go. Last done 9 years ago when I bought it, and the car could barely drive straight back then, crabbed all over the shot. And yes, before someone asks, the gearbox end has had the bolt the 'wrong way up' to avoid dropping subframe all that time... LightBulbFun 1

I had leather in one, I think all things considered I preferred the velour. The leather felt cheap and nasty I thought.

egg Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 New lower arms fitted today, 2 hours labour charged, which is fair. egg Posted February 21 Author Posted February 21 I should add to the above, I discovered a small leak nearside front a couple of weeks back, so expect the shock is actually done for.
