So, here it is in September 2022:

And here it is, a few days back at a local, smallish breakers yard. I half toyed with the idea of buying the speedo and turning it into a clock for the garage. I can't really justify the £25 the fella is asking though.

RIP.

Remember this one? The fella who was going to restore* it has decided to sell... for £1k.

I can see the A series being pulled out when it doesn't sell and the rest going in the baler.

It’s sitting there for years. I know a few people wanted to buy it off the guy, but he’s not willing to sell, will be restored, etcetc. Every time I walk past it’s looking a bit more sad and tired.

I don't think these are dumped as such but neither has moved for at least 4 or 5 years.

Took my car to a proper back street garage as I needed some work doing on it asap. I know the mechanic and he did the work well. As I had some time to kill, I thought I'd have a walk around the local area. As this area is heavily in car repairs/bodywork/scrapping/breaking etc... it's not unusual to find old dumped cars strewn at the side of the road.

Good to see that this has an MOT and is taxed. Thought it would have ended up scrapped.

Because of my shift pattern and the parking situation at home, it has left me with Fridays and weekends to spare and be able to get back anytime with the ability to actually park my car. So on Fridays I venture out with a few hours to spare and pap some cars.

Most of these won't be 'dumped' but more of a 'cars that have just been left' generally on driveways.

This Volvo V70 2.5T (R513 AGC) is on a main drag into Birmingham city centre. I've often passed it but never ever stopped in the area (never needed to) but I felt if I never did pap it, it might one day disappear forever. I do have some pics but they are generally rubbish and blurry.

It appeared in October 2010 and in some views of that year it was parked in the opposite direction so I can imagine it was last used then. Here is a pic from Flickr:

Vauxhall Chevette. So I was driving around a local large housing estate when I spotted this. Memories of spotting these kinds of cars left outside the same types of properties in Telford in the 1990s came flooding back.

I subsequently found out that this car belongs to a YouTuber who is restoring it:

20240705_143656.jpg.6b02758bcb44401933d4164bec403e52.jpg

Just opposite the Chevette is this 4.0 Jag X308. Ran out of test in January 2024. Shame to see it sitting like this.

20240705_143418.jpg.8de4a6b69db61c9222d601969b2ac489.jpg

Up the road from the Jag. These have all been here (except for the red Citroen) since 2008. The camper is a Ford P100 (Sierra) based camper.

20240705_144558.jpg.a6e141f6cf52bdb96e806f4d68cd4c50.jpg

Mercedes 420SE nearby. These W126s are the cheapest of the W126. I'm even considering one (but more prederably a W140 although a Jag will probably win out)

20240706_072424.jpg.44786aa331e79ce435d3fba1126bd5b1.jpg

Rover 623 GSi. Appears to have been here since 2009 parked in the same place according to street view.

20240705_151234.jpg.3da7473727af75125872519c20119c06.jpg

Vectra 2.0 CDX, not a V6 like mine. Ran out of test in 2013 and presumably parked here since then.

This Kia has been here for a good year or two. It's still has tax and test, it's full of stuff like books and bed covers/sheeting.

20240706_072513.jpg.4977d4f3594fa0d23c3a3edb1cc564a2.jpg

MX5 caught me out on the unawares so had to do a drive-by again. Ran out of test in 2015.

20240706_080630.jpg.e6787986b2d12bee85fc918164dbcda8.jpg

Rare Laguna thing. 1.9 Diesel. Off the road since 2020.

20240705_142540.jpg.6bfb0e9763995ba361fd7ebd93e924e6.jpg

Always wanted to pap this. Not strictly dumped but hasn't moved for a long time. Presumably cared for as it looks clean and weeds appear to be kept at bay. 3.5 petrol S350. This house once also had an early 2.3 Frontera in blue with a yellow beacon on top, that seems to have since disappeared.

20240628_124321.jpg.05766b9fc3d4a3f5113b58da88fec973.jpg

Standard Vectra in the more popular diesel SRi form currently on a SORN. Pics don't do it justice but it had some greenery on it, presumably ir has been in a minor bump seeing as the front looks a tad crumpled.

20240628_123610.jpg.6f2c4f105795e42b94f65652976ec402.jpg

Nice old Merc C-class trapped on a driveway by an equally abandoned Sprinter Luton van. C-class appears to have been used up until about 2020 when the van appeared. The C-class used to often park where the van is now according to street view. Located in a part of Birmingham I rarely ever visit.

Micra with six-digit plate slowly returning to nature on a farm. The fiesta still seems to be in use, but I think the Micra has delivered its last takeaway - been off the road since 2014.

W82 KHE. Apparently comes up as a Nissan Micra S and has a rear spoiler with a colour-coded numberplate trim. But it also appears to have earlier wheel trims.

Standard 998cc, MoT expired 2014 so likely to have been there about 10 years. MoT history shows little to no issues, usually garages try and kill these off when they inevitably get corrosion.

It may not have had corrosion when it was parked, but I suspect being part of a bramble thicket for a decade might have changed that. They do love to rust!

I've posted some of these up before but saw them again today, South London. Not sure if there's a classic car business leaving stuff out on the road or if it's a hoarder, Caddy I've seen there before and has not moved in a long time, Morris looked like hadn't turned a wheel in at least a month, single cab and camper hard to tell. There's also an Avenger estate that's definitely moved further along the road since I was here about a year ago

The Moggie's a gem. Really late one, too. No MOT history online and last keeper change 20 years ago - long-term dry stored car I assume. Whatever the case, it looks way too nice to be stuck out on the street and left.

Yes - we're looking at buying one at some point and this was perfect, not too nice that you'd worry about parking it anywhere, but not falling apart either

They're a great classic motor. I loved mine. The exhaust fart adds to the charm, although the rot is definitely one to keep an eye out for.

Here's the Micra from before from a slightly different angle... it's actually not as deepy enshrouded in brambles as I thought it was, at least not on this side. Perhaps they're a relatively recent addition.

Slightly crap photo, but here's a Civic which has been 'resting' since 2019. It's down a long driveway and quite awkward to photograph without making it obvious you're taking a photo down someone's driveway. Haven't been able to see it up close because I'm not about to go wandering onto someone else's property just to look at a car. It's a saloon, which is difficult to see from the pic, and according to data online it's a manual, which I hear is an unusual combination.

That Micra may have been bought under the Scrappage Scheme of 2009, when it was new. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
