The 205 is dead, LYVE COLLECSHUN FRED - FAIL TO PROCEED

Sucks dude.

As said, sorry about that and I wouldn't have let you go if I knew it was ropey.

Wouldn't be a proper collection thread without a FTP.

I'll text you the turbo code and what motor it came off for to get another one.

Oh gawd. At least you're practically home. What a shitter. I'm now worried about my own capers. I've never had an FTP on a caper. Yet...

Looks like a lovely* spot for a picnic does that.

Fastest recovery response ever!

Wont the engine and bits from the squashe 205 drop right in? You must be able to do an engine swap on one of those in half an hour now...

Can put his standard turbo on whilst looking for a replacement beast.

I had my turbo do the same on my transit the other day.

Just pure shit luck.

Doesn't stop me feeling bad for him though.

I spoke to Will whilst he was waiting for the breakdown truck... the engine seems fine, negligible oil loss, so he'll probably be OK to just bosh a replacement turbo on.

I'm most annoyed by that wise guy copper, he should learn some flippin proper English before posting toss like that on Twitter. There's something seriously wrong if coppers can post their day job events on their own twitter feeds with their own views etc then get it endorsed by the force itself. What happens if your particular copper is (as some indeed are) a massive racist bell end for example? "Look at these rag heads in a knackered Toyota. 2 worn out front tyres: 6 points and a £100 fine LOLOLOLOL" etc etc.

Back home in time for dinner.

Good quick recovery that one.

Now what do I do?

Now what do I do?

Break out the spanners and swap the turbot.

Add your tale to the  " .....and I almost made it home"  thread that we really should have.

I cant see a duff turbot setting you back over far man.  Spanner spanner, fix fix, win win.

Whip off both manifolds, change turbo and manifold to stock set up. Turn fuel down.Drash on.

Keep an eye out for a Gt2052s from a Mercedes c220cdi. Pre them changing to a VNT set up.

Take out all internals and swap over.

Drive a boss motor.

Any help you need let me know.

Unlucky chap, but days like this are what ensure you always have some good stories to tell down the pub.

Or a train. They sit in stations for a good 2 minutes, should be long enough to climb underneath a Sprinter and unbolt.

"couldofbeenapedestrian"

I've yet to find many who fly at 4+ feet. Presumably WIll could see the road and any potential pedestrian legs since he didn't drive through the hedge/didn't have bashed wings. I really want to respect our police force, there are plenty of decent people working in it, but this sort of tweet doesn't help.

Would a Volvo 850 /V70 TDi turbo do? Will has one in stock.

Get it running without oil loss. Big turbo/interwarmer shenanigans can happen later.

turbo has blown up

making good progress

Certainly not the first time he's done that. And I doubt it'll be the last. :D

Just thinking about it this morning - would it be an idea to change the oil too, in case there's bits of turbo bearing floating around in it?

Posted

It's an oil journal bearing.

Sounds like the rubber seals have failed so shouldn't be any metal in there.
