There should be an empty space on the stand to represent the car that didnt make it.Bubs vectra

sorry i'll get my coat

I'm definitely up for it but if you're wanting stuff that's not on other stands would yet another Fiesta be wanted?

Still the Frontera will 22 by then it's it's a lot easier to drive it that far

The general public would be horrified at the present state of my Maserati. As am I :-(

Awesome - Dollywobbler, can you book us a space right next to the Maserati Owners Club?

I think you should just asterisk out the non child friendly part of our name, would be good to broadcast our cause.

**toSH***?  ****shite? A*T*S*I*E ? AutoRoffle ?

I don't really do shows, because ....I'll give you an example or 2. XRWankersClub.org/polish4theUNDERS. and MX5OC.co.uk/needIsaymore.

Actually I think an unrestored (bodged a bit obviously) MX5 with a bit tatty interior, but a full MOT, the wrong 14inch (scabby alloys) wheels for the car, a hole where a clarion should be,  and dents and scratches from use. Obviously not modified enough to mix it with the MX5Nutz mentalists with their Turbo's and  dished 19 inch wide minilite replica alloys, with 220 BHP and obviously NOT concourse or special enough for the MX5OC with keep fit windows and no aircon and a missing logo on one side (probably from a repair in the 90's)

Obviously there will be mirrors under it, so you can see all the scabbiness.

If the Festa is popular spec then it could be on the list

Sounds a lot of fun and potentially you could get some really rather special/rancid tat there.

I don't think Practical Classics ever edited out the site name, does EL still get a monthly plug in there?

I think we should also contribute to the Sporting Bears ride thing.........so lucky punters pay a few quid for a ride around local roads in an allegro with partially collapsed suspension, driven by a shiter who is constantly ranting about the fools that buy newer cars.

Taff, JohnF, Junkman and forddeliveryboy could present workshops in their specialist subjects while in the background other shiter take a reasonably sound older vehicle and install bodges to shorten its life and make it less desirable.

We will be overrun with new members.........

Posted

if the allegro is ready by then I would be interested..... by the way putting Autosite into Wikipedia gives this as the result..... perfeck.....

Autosite can mean:

  • the independent twin of a pair of conjoined twins where the other twin is a parasitic twin
  • a website about cars

If I have a functioning car (that's not an '05 Civic) I'd be well up for this, been wanting to go to the NEC for yonks but am never in a position to do so.

I'f I don't have a functioning car (that's not an '05 Civic) feel free to fix it for me as part of a display...

Working on cars is fine as long as you cover it in the risk assessment and avoid spilled fluids. 2CVGB once did a chassis swap over the weekend. When it was still a two day show! We did a cylinder head swap on my 2CV in 2007.

Resto show is a possibility, but I'd have to encourage others to take on the stand. I'm committed to helping with the 2CVGB stand for that one. In my dreams, I'll have a new body for my 2CV by then but as it's in March, I somehow doubt this very much!

we roof chopped my A50 in 8 hours at an outdoor show once, tell them Seth!!

Happy to help out, and I have a selection* of 4 door, reliable, economical, turbo diesel saloons to choose from...

Do you think a live "Cunt Count" would be appropriate?

Some contributors must be in triple figures by now... Dugong & Albert Ross (?) were in double figures back when the last one was done.

:-D

When is it as I'd love to go?

Happy to bring the Granada down too

Does promoting the website mean we'll get an influx of people like the Facebook version?  Being selfish, do we really want 10,000 people (or whatever it is) knowing that we exist?

I'm an Autoshiter and I fear change.

And yet that's the preferred amount of money anyone wants to pay for a car :)

Not only is it popular it's popular plus, with the wrong bumpers and a worn drivers seat!

Edit: just a thought about the name, it's a bit crap but aren't we called something like brown forum in some places?

That's a very valid concern, and a worry I had when I started this thread. Maybe I should invent a different club and go as that instead. Or maybe just ask if I can have a stand for my shabby fleet. I could hold interviews to see if folk meet our high* standards before letting them know about Autoshite then.

I'm in, the ex-bo11ox 220SLi of many shiters can be provided if desired.  Also, who said cake?

I'd also second not associating it too closely with this forum.

Hmmm. Perhaps it's best to stick to the current way of doing things then. There were several Autoshiters on other club stands after all! Young Guns, Volvo and Rover 200 just to name the ones that immediately come to mind (I think).

After all, the NEC isn't like Chomongley. There already is a good smattering of boring sports cars and lovely old shite. Vauxhall Heritage even had a Vectra on the stand!

I was just speaking to a mate earlier about asking for a BSA Ariel 3 display stand in a  corner owing to the fact when i asked on the BSA owners club stand where where all the Ariel 3's i was told they were not real BSA's :-(

Maybe if there we a wee space i could slip one in on "the stand of the year" Autoshite? I can even provide a barn found rusty as fuck one if required.. The green one

We could still have have a stand, but be sufficiently rude and obtuse to visitors that only people who "get it" will still want to join.

Basically, a live-action Grumpy thread.

(My other idea involves a live-action Sexism thread)

I like the idea of the Autoshite Bikes on display - the 220SLi (with optional Powertrain by bo11ox display) and the Y10 would be good to see there. Definitely a Tagora because that's exactly the right motor. And maybe something pant-wettingly rare from n.bickle, or something mega shiny with 0.3 miles on the clock from Doobie like a Yugo Sana

I've got it lads.

What we need is a green screen of the tooSavvy Memorial Bridge to allow people from all around the UK to take a half selfie of themselves. That should be enough to mark ourselves as individual enough to appeal only to us as well as scare everyone else away.

It wasn't my intention to piss on your idea, nor the enthusiasm of others here, honestly.

I don't think there's a issue. 95% of punters will turn their nose-up at the sight of a Daewoo Espero and a nutty shitter straining veg oil through a Wolverhampton Wanderers Away sock. The 5% that show any interest should be encouraged to look at the forum; new members bring so much new tin and enthusiasm that it keeps things fresh. Also, as mentioned, the Facebook page is huge, yet only a small number make their way here even though they all know about this place. If there was to be an influx of idiots this is more likely to be the source and it hasn't happened.

I'd be there regardless so if I can help in anyway then I'd be happy to - though I'm usually megabusy over the weekend as it is.

But I reckon its worth a go. I would say that whilst the cars on the stand should reflect the ethos of the site, you need to have some nice stuff (even if it is something run of the mill) as if you have a stand full of tatty shit you'll end up pissing both the organisers and punters off. It'd need to be varied, thats all.

Incidentally, if anyone does fancy a stand for the resto show then count me in. Think I'm free that weekend and I'd like to have a look at it anyway.

I do think the name is a bit of a problem.

But if it keeps normal people out of the place then long may it continue.
