eddyramrod Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Sporty-shite asked first, a couple of weeks ago, and in so doing, made me decide that selling this on might be a good idea.So what do you get? It's been introduced here before, but new readers can join at this point.1992 JDM Toyota MR2 G-Limited, 2.0 auto. I'm using it as my daily, for which it's a lot of fun, if rather small, but that size is double edged. it does mean it's easy to park in town, for example.I bought it via ebay last year, almost on impulse, you'll remember the collection thread. Some Shiters have even seen the car close-up. It had been resprayed at some point, in a lighter red than original. I owned it for a few months, during which I had the cambelt done and one or two other jobs. One was replacement of a horrible aftermarket steering wheel with a proper MR2 item from a scrappy. My mate Dave then came to see me and fell in love with the car, so I let him buy it. He had a new stereo fitted, resprayed it again (which it did need) and fitted a pair of new tyres on the back. Oh and MoT'd it at the appropriate point.Fast forward 13 months and Dave falls in love with my Saab convertible. So obviously I do him a deal, which brings the MR2 back to me. I've replaced a tyre (having burst one on a kerb) and had a little welding done at the back end of the sill, driver's side.MoT is either January or February (must remember to check) and it starts every morning at 6am after being left on the street. It's lovely to drive. Squeeze the right pedal and it dunnarf take off! Handles, too, not that I get many opportunities to enjoy that. There might only be two seats, and they might be a long way down, but they are very comfy. Dave fitted some seat covers to protect them, and left them on when he brought it back to me, so you can have them, they're still on.The two lift-out panels in the roof fit well. They also have both their sunshades and storage bags, that fit behind the seats.I've been asked about adjustment on the steering column. I'm pretty sure there is, but I'll have a fiddle tomorrow and let you know exactly what. Oh and there's an aftermarket immobiliser on it.Where is it? Barrow-in-Furness, which is about as north-west as you can go without speaking Glasgae. Postcode is LA13.Now then.... how much is it? I did say to Sporty that it wouldn't be a penny over 800, and Shiter discount would apply. Given that the MoT isn't as long now (time marches on, and all that) let's call it 650. English Pounds, that is.It seems I have an MG ZT coming in, so a swift deal might be a good thing. Over to you! UltraWomble, KruJoe, DVee8 and 1 other 4
Tayne Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Oh and there's an aftermarket immobiliser on it. Where is it? Barrow-in-Furness I suppose it's for security reasons that you won't tell us where the aftermarket immobiliser really is? GLWTS. Dick Cheeseburger, eddyramrod, DeeJay and 2 others 5
sporty-shite Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Sorry I didn't get back to you,Eddy. Told dad about it, but then mum planted seeds of doubt by saying he's too old for it! Verdict: 13 & 25 please.
purplebargeken Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 4 & 23. Fuggin AS lotteries mutter, mutter, mumble, mumble eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted November 1, 2015 Author Posted November 1, 2015 Too old.... lol!Did you tell her my mate who owned it was 81?
sporty-shite Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Too old.... lol!Did you tell her my mate who owned it was 81?I think she was just trying to put him off. The reason he finally said no was the fact it's a two seater. He and mum occasionally pick our two kids up from school and obviously, they wouldn't fit. As for the "too old" thing, he wants me to find him a Celica now, so that didn't work! eddyramrod 1
Sealtainn Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I'd prefer a manual but put me down for a trio of tickets if you are roffling it anyway
overrun Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 It will have rake and reach adjustment for the column, being a Rev 1 (rake lever is behind wiper stalk, and reach is on the bottom left of the steering shrouds).Only (some) Rev 3 onwards, done away with the reach. As you have had welding to an outer sill, have you removed the 'rear quarter' cards and inspected the inner sill/box section? If the factory sponge is still there - regardless of sill condition - bin it!It soaks up moisture and rots the sills out. These cars go from the inside out, so often the first you know of it, is when it shows on the outer sills.By then, the inners are like soggy cornflakes. This affects T Bar and sunroof cars much more than tin tops, due to water drainage. i'm not saying yours is affected in this way, but if you want decent money for an early N/A, most people will want to see the inner sill condition. MR2 prices are all over the place, these days, good luck selling yours.Cleanliness is becoming more important than Revision, too. At least in Turbo circles. Jim Bell and eddyramrod 2
Slartibartfast Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 If you are doing a roffle I'll definitely be in for a couple of tickets.
Angry Sheep Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Please raffle it. I couldn't justify to anyone why I bought an automatic MR2, but I'd happily splurge a few quid on tickets. Taff, Cavcraft and Tayne 3
Taff Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Which end is the engine? As I have no time whatsoever for this new-fangled engine-up-front scenario that some manufacturers are trying to force us into Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Seriously, Taff? WW has it right, it's bang in the middle of the car, which means there's a shallow boot at the front, where the spacesaver spare lives, and a deeper on way out back under the spoiler, which is good for several Asda bags of shopping. See, told you it was practical!
Taff Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Its right behind your ears. along with what's left of my hair Seriously, Taff? WW has it right, it's bang in the middle of the car, which means there's a shallow boot at the front, where the spacesaver spare lives, and a deeper on way out back under the spoiler, which is good for several Asda bags of shopping. hairnet Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 Sorry I didn't get back to you,Eddy. Told dad about it, but then mum planted seeds of doubt by saying he's too old for it! Verdict: 13 & 25 please.what ya think that makes eddy
eddyramrod Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Yesterday morning I came around the bend you can see in the background, at no more than 20mph because I have hard-earned respect for that corner, I use it regularly. There was a silver Honda Civic waiting to turn out of the side street on my left. And she turned. Oh shit. From being beautifully light and stable to drive, it's now heavy and pulls to the left (I drove the half-mile or so home), Insurance shenanigins will follow. I can see it being written off.
Christine Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I reckon its worth 2 grand + stiff neck allowance + hire car till you find a replacement Winner ! Buy it back for 30 quid too
outlaw118 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 BALLZ So that's you and bub with bendage issues. If it's true this kinda shit comes in 3's, then everyone needs to stay in for a while. (Tinfoil hat on) EssDeeWon 1

eddyramrod Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks Craig, I'm not, just have a banging headache, but that could be down to either excess computer time (I have a big writing project I'm supposed to be working on) or exhaust ingress into the MG's cabin on a horrible wet day/night, given that I drove it 100 miles home.
sofarsogood Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Oh no! Just saw this. Shame looks a good Mister 2 that. Glad you are ok. Hope you get it sorted easily. If you do roffle it PM me what numbers you would choose! All the best. eddyramrod 1

eddyramrod Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 That's a great shame Eddy.Is it really a good idea to get the insurer involved? I'm still well up for a ROFL...The other party was immediately aggressive and trying to convince me it was my fault, so yes. That's what they're for. Cavcraft and KruJoe 2
