NEC show 13-15 Nov

Is anyone going? Im driving down Sat later afternoon for a visit on Sunday and back up Sunday eve.

Yes, I'll be there every day - probably most hectic on Friday morning and most sociable Saturday, fading to grumpy/exhausted on the Sunday.

I'll be there on the Friday as a normal punter. Don't forget, train station parking is half the price (ish) of NEC parking.

It can be even cheaper if you park some miles away and get the train in. I'll be there at some point, but no idea when yet.

Top tip is that if you use the NEC car park, choose to pay when you leave but only leave at 7pm when they kick you out then the car park attendance has normally buggered off home so you can just drive straight out without paying.

You can sometimes get bargains on Sunday if you're thinking of tools and the like - the cars on show are on show for the duration AFAIK, though people do want to bugger off and go home ASAP on the last day.

If anyone spots me, say Hi, and fair warning, I am shit at names/faces so rarely use them due to a crippling fear of getting them wrong. Which is funny because a lot of 'people-facing' successful individuals are masters of the art of remembering names, and using them. Figure I'll get the cringeworthy embarrassment out of the way before suffering it, so to speak; it is absolutely not (as often interpreted) disinterest or reluctance to speak to people.

 

Chances are I'll be nipping about frantically with a little camera trying not to bash into anyone or anything.

You'll be fine. All the display cars can't move anywhere until after the show closes on Sunday night.  Traders might sell out of stuff by Sunday (hopefully...) but otherwise its all there all weekend.

Me and my skin flint mate tried this last year, I think it was the Saturday. We even stopped behind and had a Wetherspoons tea which we thought would be courtesy of not paying the parking fee. Unfortunately at around 7:30 ish the parking attendants were still there taking cash, bastards! The year before I think we did get away with it though.

I parked up at the car park the other year, then left about 5pm without paying, no attendants in booths or anything.

A mate is showing his car and has a spare pass for the Sunday although I expect he will want me to hang around to follow him home though so it could be a bit of a late finish
