2003 Mondeo 2.0 (pez) Zetec
MOT Jan 2016
123,000 miles.
Surprisingly clean and tidy inside and out and bodywork very good.
Seems to be completely standard (inc. radio cassette!)
Four electric windows, alloy wheels etc.

Last owner recons the n/s/r wheel bearing is just starting to show signs of needing replacement.
Two tyres almost on limit (though spare is ace)
N/s/f door has to be locked/unlocked seperately
Handbrake doesn't work

Come and have a test drive and good poke round it or ask someone to do so in your behalf.

£350  now  £300!

Christ. My Swift, a car designed to be cheap over all things, had a CD player from new. Surely putting a cassette player in a mid-sized saloon at the time was a bit tight?

Advert should read:

"2 good condition L plates. Free JRG Mondeo included in sale. £350"

Unless of course the L plates have already been stripped for profit...

Ford seem really random with the stereos they fit to Mondeo. I had a 1.8LX with the 6000RDS system fitted which came with an internal pre amp - as fitted to Scorpio Ultima etc...

Looks Nice. As a Zetec, does it have the heated front screen?

Still miss that on my old Scorpio...   (bout the only thing I do miss though)

Posted

They all have the front screen throughout the range iirc

Decent. These things seem to be solid, the MOT man will no doubt find it rust free.

Sounds like it needs rear new rear calipers for the common FAIL handbrake, and don't expect more than 30 mpg from that 2.0 Duratec. And it won't be fast.

Yes, I would.

It seems pretty rapid, but I have an XUD (n/a) so walking seems pretty rapid in comparison.

Just done comparethemeertwat and the cheapest insurance is £437 and the priciest is..... wait for it......... £10, 600 with some cunts called Autonet!  Really? Fucking really?

It is a fucking 2 litre Mondeo. That is gold paint, not actual fucking gold. What fucking planet are these companies on? I am gobsmacked, utterly gobsmacked. The Rover 75 cost around 120 quid.

That was parked on the road, limited to 1000 miles a year and one my fault accident in 2011.

Because: London.

I was tempted to cut and paste the screen shot in case folks thought I was on crack.

Even more fucking reason to nuke the cunting place.

Hey these are alright barges - I had a 2.0 pez Ghia a few years ago and it was really comfy and super reliable. Sold it to maxpower off here when I'd finished with it.

Work and back in mine does 32-34mpg. If you've driven one and it felt sluggish there must have been something up with it. Not necessarily quick off the mark but mid range it really shifts. Does have DMF but not especially prone to failure. Unlike the diesel.

for £350 what more do you want?

wheels, AND a stereo.

just right for The Beatles greatest hits* on autoreverse/permanent loop

I'm with Autonet PBK, and it's less than 300 for my 2.5 Volvo.

Misquote perhaps?

There's probably a bit of give in the price too AND I'll throw in a cassette of your my choice.

Better test drive reveals a slight drone from the near side somewhere.

I've genuinely tried to be subjective and fair, but I just cannot get on with it like the Vectra, and I find it cold and sterile.

It's mega clean inside and out and the dashboard is a nice thing to look at.

I have my Rolls insured with Autonet £80 with 3k miles. Sorry don't want to buy a Mondeo though !

That's the wrong stereo for a Mondeo, those are usually fitted to Transits and Mk1 Focus ect.

That should have the slightly bigger unit with square corners - not that anyone needs to know this...........I'll get my anorak

Anyway, GLWTS

Have you ever bought a car without dodgy white stains in the middle of the drivers seat? Maybe that's the true cost of a cheap car.....

And all of the buttons prised off the stereo...
