A friend of mine is selling this.  I consider him to me honest and trustworthy.

Location Farnborough. His email to me:-

Rover 218SLD Turbo, MOT to 10th June 2016, L reg, white/grey, 5 door,
used daily, willing engine starts on the button, 133k, two owners from
new, tow bar with 2 elec connectors, good tyres, recent timing belt,
water pump & exhaust. The car is category C because it was once
lightly damaged and because of its low value was an insurance write
off, however I had the damage repaired, and the car was passed fit for
continued use., 2 owners from new, Electric sunroof, Electric front
windows, Folding rear seats, Spare wheel (Full), Power steering,
Steering wheel rake adjustment.  Ã‚£299

Please note that I have not seen this car myself for a few years (he has had it years and years) so you have to do your own due diligence.

The guy is having a very rough time in my opinion and has been for a long time. Please be nice to him.

O double seven eight five three six seven double five seven to speak or sms to the owner.

It looks great and from my period with the 220SLi very good cars. It would give me a suitable car for the Longbridge Rally next year.

So so tempted, just the usual excuses nowhere to park it, another car to insure and tax.....

That is fab, pretty sure these like the veg, too.

LP, will this have a Bosch pump? Cheers.

I want an R8 before they're all gone.  However, the "look" bestowed by Domestic Management tells me this is not the one...

Just tell her you won it in a raffle.

Or don't tell her.

No chance sadly. One day maybe!

Unless your mate wants to swap for a lesser car?

Yo mon!  is that Farnborough Hants or Kent?  I am interested if it is Hants and if it is still available when I get back from this god forsaken foreign airport with no mobile phone signal.

Had one on the same L plate. Great cars and pretty bullet proof. Peugeot engines.

Lots of hot Rover action on this forum nowadays which is not a bad thing.

Posted

Somebody buy this before Mrs Cyl sees it and I could be forced to visit Hampshire.

Posted

Very tempting, but time for me to stand aside and let somebody else feel the R8 love.

Think they're the 1769 (?) cc as found in the 205

They are.

Posted

Yep, 1769 XUD7 for this intercooled turbo jobbie.  The bigger, atmospherical plugger was XUD9

Had two of them and got 50 mpg easy, quick too, quite unlike the XUD9 ones to drive

Get it bought, etc.  It's in wedding white too, for autumnal events.

These XUD's have some extra goodies not found on 205's, BX's etc., such as the front mounted inter-cooler and oil cooler.

They can be Bosch'd for vegness, (you'd need injectors too), or the 1.9 will drop right in, and you can keep the goodies :)

All the bits to fix this up nicely can be found within AS, including a door in the right colour...

Is there a queue I can join to buy this? Don't want to tread on anyone's toes.

Send the PM and get it bought lad!

You're in the North-East, right? A certain white L-reg R8 breaker is also heading up your way shortly...

I didn't think it'd hang around at that price. Would have made a lovely runabout while I change the engine in my 360.
