Lidl Red Oxide Primer

400ml Red Oxide aerosols in at the moment at Lidl £2.49. Also filler primer, zinc exhaust paint and matt black paint. Looks good quality stuff!

Off to lidl this afternoon! The tins of Bauer metal paint and thinners are also good when they have them.

I may have to check this out as it appears the Umm is painted in red oxide, so a tenner could give it a full respray

I've had a go with the red oxide and I can happily report it's top stuff. Goes on beautiful, unlike the stuff in a tin. I'll report back as to how well it does, ditto the filler primer...

Had a go with the grey colour. Saiid silver grey on the tin. I can confirm that it does not colour match Mercedes silver! At a distance it would fool a blind man but not close up i.e closer than 50 feet!!

I still haven't finished the last tin I inherited, don't think it has any lead in it but I can tell you it doesn't burn.

Might be lead free, but zinc chromate isn't a walk in the park either.

Oooh what's the deal with the pinto cylinder head in the background of that picture looks to have a nicely sized valve on the inlet side

I suspect that the red oxide is actually red lead oxide. I've just been testing some paint from oil rigs- guaranteed not to burn, but the red paint is full of lead, and the yellow paint chromium.

Just been down for some filler primer but sadly they didn't have any. They did have some stone chip though and it seems decent stuff.

Just bought some matt black, no immediate need for it but the way I operate probably means I'll buy a car that requires it.

At that price it's worth buying just in case

I don't normally use Lidl so don't know how they work. Will they have this for. While or is it a case of when it's gone it's gone? Just wondering whether it's worth another trip to see if they have more of the stuff I need.

They won't have it for long so stock up now. I've just bought matt black, red oxide and 2 x underbody sealant for £10 total.

i use the undersealantbuyseems good stuff,just drips a bit,just bought the last 10 tins.

Just been back but not much left, wish I got more last time now. Wonder which lucky beggar in Tamworth got all the filler primer.
