I often go through phases where I find myself concentrating looking at one thing, a few months ago whenever I stopped in traffic or at lights I would see what make of tyres people had on their cars, oh eye yeah I am a rivetingly exciting bloke.

Anyhow lately it's been wheel trims.

Some of my faves.

Lets start with some self whoring these on the Rhonda are not bad.

This is probably my favourite use of wheel trims, a w140, when one looking pretty similar to this comes up for sale, its being purchased

Citroen are pretty bang on the money when it comes to designing circular bits of plastic.

Also the trims on cav sri's are ACE.

I was trying to find the shiny chrome effect type, fords sometimes came with but I found these which are also outrageously amazing.

So if you a wheel trim fancier this is the place to post.

Tomorrow's observations will be wing mirrors.

I really want a set of those BX trims. Always have. They come up as singles on eBay, but I've never seen a full set for sale.

I have always liked the chrome plated stainless hub caps with a colour band fitted to some Jaguar XJ40s. They're rare though since you had to pay more for them than alloy wheels.

I've got a few wheel trims stashed away here and there, nowt spesh though. On my 820E are these:

They look similar to Montego jobbies but are actually different. Very rare trims, I have 2 new of these trims too, but I reckon once the car itself is back on the road and tidied up a bit, the trims will get a fresh coat of Grey.

Got these on the Ovlov. Buggers stay on which is handy.

I've never understood why people fit cheap nasty oversized alloys to yanks when the original metal trims look so nice.

My Mercury ones look much better than alloys, I think so anyway.

I'm in a minority, but really don't like them. I had 8 spare at one point, so I gave away the best 4 and just binned the remainder as they had a few scratches. Little did I realise how sought after they would become 10 years later!

Nothing looks worse IMHO on a proper Yank than rubber band tyres and gold Wheelz. Detroit were the Kings of Hubcaps....

That looks great and has reminded me that somewhere in the shed I've got a box of American hubcaps from the 50's and 60's including Cadillac, Lincoln and Mercury. They came from an auction of a bankrupt diner so they've all got 2 little holes drilled to screw them to the wall, I feel an artistic feature on the garden fence coming on - pictures at the weekend!

When I was an obnoxious 20 year old yuppie gobshite, I wanted steels and plastic trims on my new company XR3i, they were supposed to be standard but all XR3's seemed to come on cloverleaf alloys. I only wanted steels because I'd read (in CAR, probably) that they were lighter and 6x14 opposed to 5 1/2x 14 for the alloys- I got allys.

OP: I'm the same re focussing on one particular thing every so often and like wheel trims too, what I don't get is, people said mk3 Cav SRis with trims were sporty, they are nice and the trims are nice but a car with trims isn't sporty IMO.

1 of my favourite things as a child was either going to the local Ford dealer Clanford of Paisley with my dad when his Orion was in getting serviced, on the wall in the service/parts area was a huge chart with photos of all the different Forms trims for recent Fords, no reg or vin look up for a part number on the computer needed, you simply looked at the PIC for the ones your car had and gave the guy the ref number, and passing the other local Ford dealer Wylie's of Glasgow, they had loads of recent Ford trims on the wall behind the part as counter.

I like these: (struggling to find pics)

- mk2 Cav SRi trims

- mk3 Cav GLS trims

- Corsa B SRi trims

I have a thing for looking at car tyres to see if they're balding or dangerous.

I will leave a note on the offending car's windscreen if I think it's necessary.

Here you go. These are the Kia Shumas trims, just after they had been painted, along with the wheels and arches cleaned and undersealed.

Just sold a Identical set of these Cavalier SRI trims brand new in the bags too for £79 on ebay!  An a few weeks before a used set of 5 that I was watching went for £51, so worth keeping a look out for if you happen upon a set cheap.

Think there my favourite Renault wheel trim and a bonus seeing them on a 19 too. I had two phase 1 19's but could never find a set of these for either Car when I owned them.

Always liked the Old Merc trims

Right ,this thread inspired me to dig out some trims from the shed to screw to the fence- Mrs N will be so happy* when she gets in.

Anyway, apart from the obvious, what are they off? The grille too ,it's just git a dealer badge on it. I'm expecting a certain Man of junk to be able to identify model, year, body type etc. no prizes 'cause I have no idea anyway.post-17414-0-82046100-1432389082_thumb.jpgpost-17414-0-48090900-1432389096_thumb.jpgpost-17414-0-04170400-1432389128_thumb.jpgpost-17414-0-31237100-1432389142_thumb.jpgpost-17414-0-92991300-1432389155_thumb.jpg

There might be more I'm sure there at another 3 somewhere.
