I really like this. Ideal. Auto, small cheap. Always the way when I'm skint. Anyone fancy a battered punto?

Did you kick the back doors in after you cleaned it and binned the wheeltrims?

It's blue,5 door, matt black wing and sanded bonnet due to argument with corsa driver and wall on wing and graffiti on bonnet. Elx trim so electric windows central locking electric sunroof but sunroof don't work come off runner so pulled fuse). Body scuffed and scratched but mechanically sound bar an untraceable oil leak. Mot November, alloys obviously kerbed (previous owner parked by touch) one key.

Remember that nut case who drove up Snowdon in a Frontera? Let's all chip in a tenner and get Gary to do the same up the Horseshoe Pass slate mine thing in the 205.

There's a well known green lane called The Wayfarer not far from Llangollen . It's about 6 miles long and climbs 1500 ft, popular with hikers so at the top there's a metal box with a visitors book and people leave chocolate bars etc. last time I went across there were photos of a Peugeot 205 that had driven the route. Presumably it fucked it up ,but it did it and it wasn't still up there!

Must make the all the gear and no idea OLLI wankers feel pretty stupid.

Good runner and I don't want to get rid if I didn't ideally need an auto

Apparently the bonnet is useful to the 205 boys who like to shoehorn in the Mi6 donkey.

No I dont want it.

I drove a 205 across from strata florida in mid wales once. several miles of dirt roads and a small river to cross :)  No problems, thats why the French don`t make mainstream 4 x 4 s !

That was a great little car. Swapped it for a BMW 525 diesel estate though

Which I then swapped for an ALfa 156 and a Peugeot 206. Can`t remember the rest but am sure then chain went on a fair bit after!

That sounds like the sort of stupid challenge we should try at Shitefest.

Presumably it was dry when you did it, that small river has to be crossed about 9 times if you went from Strata Florida to the Tregaron rd near Llyn Brianne.

Even a little bit of rain means you need a snorkel and trying to cross when in flood can and has ended in tragedy, a teenage girl was killed in 2008 when the Disco she was in got washed away.

Some of the steps must have been a challenge in a 205 too,I've often thought of doing it in a 2CV or R4 ,but I suppose French farmers must have replaced theirs with 205s by now.

This cut out on me the other day. I stopped at some traffic lights and it died, then just turned over and wouldn't fire.

Called the AA out, the man said it was the ignition amplifier thingy (I have no idea what it's actually called, it's a little Bosch branded electrical thing on top of the engine). I imagine replacing this would be very cheap (and it's only held on with 2 screws and a clip so even I could change it) but I've give up on this now and just can't be arsed. Once this and the Volvo are sold I'll replace both with something else.

So, it's now available for £80.

If it's not gone soon I'll just scrap it as I'm still paying insurance and tax on it each month, so also let me know if there's any bits on it you might want (only small, easy to remove bits though, I'm not taking the gearbox out or something).

That's the thing! I can't promise that's the issue as it's just the AA man's diagnosis but he seemed like he knew his stuff, tested it with a multimeter etc. I dumped it nearby and he gave me a lift back to the Simca and he was talkig about working for a Chrysler Talbot dealer in the late 70s.

So for under £100 you could have a working 205 with 4 months MOT!

Not sure how the chage of ownership works with it needing a VIC check though.

As I understand it, new keeper needs to VIC it before doovla will issue a new V5.

Amp is just a big capacitor, I've had that on a couple of cars, when I warms up it just stops working. I think you can use one from another car.

Where is the car atm?

Brighton, I think.

bit far for me,was just thinking for Autoshite meet, I could buy this, hide it from the wife round the corner, do Autoshite, then scrap it..

Gary might bring it if you ask him and pay his train fare home.

VIC is being abolished in October as it was such a useless and expensive scheme.

COME ON! What is it with cheap Peugeot 205 box-tickers and this forum?

Everything about this car is rubbish, it's £80 AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO CHANGE GEAR! What is there to hate?
