DodgyBastard Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 Camry is booked in for its mot tomorrow but having driven it for the first time in months today, I don't think it will pass easily. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk Coprolalia, danthecapriman and oldcars 3

cort16 Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I saw that on gumtree. It looked pretty good other than the water pump issue .

AndyW201 Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Lovely, looks in good shape too. I'm sure Danny Hopkins from Practical Classics had that at one time. Shep Shepherd 1
Felly Magic Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 What will happen to the tidemark on this German velour filled barge?
DodgyBastard Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Found some old pics on Flickr, I'll probably just leave the tide mark, the paintwork is too high a standard for me to try replicating on the doors and I'll end up just making it look shit. nisfan Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Tidemark looks fine as it fits in with the bumpers, and its not wavy! oldcars 1
vulgalour Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Four door saloon. Velourious interior. Two-tone. Mmmmmmm NorthernMonkey 1
Brodders Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 That is excellent, well bought. I am looking forward to seeing more of this. I think the tidemark suits it quite well though. I thought it was a factory paint job when I first saw it, and wouldn't have known otherwise unless told. Brodders and Ghosty 2
Bren Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 A 2.5 as well.Just don't try and beat hyundai i30's away from the lights....
Royale80 Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Another one! Fantastic-first one I ever drove was a 2.5 Auto-it was only a couple of years old-felt quick enough! They knew how to do "VELOOOOOOR"-here's mine Dirk Diggler, D Spares & Tyres, Junkman and 6 others 9
rantingYoof Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 That's absolutely cracking! Ooof! Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk
r.welfare Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I had a 2.5 manual. The velour was dark grey (as was the paint) so you lost the visual impact. Went ok though.
Zelandeth Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 That looks lovely. Had forgotten the Monza-like tail lights on that generation... The Vauxhall velour interiors of that era really are something else. Just don't ever get one if you've got a dog or cat - it's like bloody velcro and you'll never, ever get rid of the fluff. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. DodgyBastard 1
Skizzer Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 NICE. Well bought, these are such handsome things inside and out.
r.welfare Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I couldn't work out how to get the key out of the steering column first time I stopped for petrol mind you. Royale80 and DodgyBastard 2

Felly Magic Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I have a lush met gold mk1 Senator diecast from a partwork for dealers, made by Schucco, interior is very, very green Laseraligningfoofooflanges 1
Royale80 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Absolutely lovely! The first one I drove was when I ran a pub and one of the regulars left his black 2 year old 2.5 auto overnight. A149 HFH-my memory for odd things is great! Had to pick him up the next day-after a hoon up and down the local 2 mile straight-went very well-my 3.0 Senator makes the same noise. He later replaced it with a D reg 2.5 manual in silver-can't remember that number. steve Dick Cheeseburger 1

DodgyBastard Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 The Senator has a list of issues I'm making my way through. DodgyBastard Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 DSC_0370 by srblythe, on Flickr Today I fitted a new spring to the Camry which failed its mot on Thursday with a broken front spring. The old spring had broken in half so was relatively easy to remove apart from every nut and bolt being old and rusty. The replacement spring was massive and was a bit of a faff to compress and fit but I got there eventually. Hopefully I'll get it in for the retest during the week. DSC_0369 by srblythe, on Flickr It's seems like a waste of a car letting my dad have it, he drives it occasionally and covered 1200 miles last year, it's left in a damp garage which really isn't doing it any favours. I'm tempted to sell it and get him a generic shitter to use when he needs it but I'm unsure what to sell the Camry for and what to buy in its place. My dad likes the car with it's leather interior and cruise control but doesn't particularly enjoy the poor fuel economy from a 3.0 v6 auto. oldcars, CGSB, Coprolalia and 1 other 4
