Good to see the 220sli again! Did you have to bypass the old starter switch on the tata?

It was like that when I got it, also instead of a push button start it has a switch to flick for the starter which must be flicked back when it starts the engine. Top quality stuff.

Potential for a Scottish competitor to Dollywobbler's videos? I'd subscribe to that! Need to work on the wind noise though. Not sure how, mind. Short of getting professional grade audio equipment with the fancy covers on the microphones, as you can't just switch the wind off!

I don't think it's possible to attach an external microphone onto the Nikon D90 unfortunately. I'm not really trying to rival anyone with the videos I make, I'm not particularly keen to be in front of the camera so will likely try and find someone else to do the driving while I do the filming.

Does anyone have any recommendations for better sound quality other than not standing in the wind?

Record the audio track separately using a decent mike, digital recorder and windbreak, then edit it together.

This. You just bung it into a video editor, sync it up and export. Some of the software even syncs it up for you, I guess using the original soundtrack from the camera and matching it up to the nice one from the handheld microphone.

Sound advice, I'll look into it cheers.

In a pinch, masking tape over the microphone hole and talk a little louder.

Works better for things like driving along with the windows open trying to film, but does shut the WHOFFTTSCOHHHPPPPHT of wind noise down to a minimum.

This is something I've toyed with doing as I actually prefer to talk than to type some of the time. Might do it. I can be lazy though.

i'll sort out my Youtube profile and subscribe to your vids.

Mis-matched wheels front and rear. It's already a genuine* drift car!

They're not mismatched, the rears have just twisted with all that torque.

Edit: In reverse gear.

Great to see it still alive and kicking, brilliant car that.  Must be one of the most-owned Autoshite cars now by far.  I really like my 420iL with the same engine but somehow it's not quite got that same feeling as the 220SLi had.

I notice that someone has upgraded my scrapyard battery to a proper shiny new one but the proper Rover mats I got from Rimmer Bros are absent!  Considering it was looking pretty tatty last I had it, the bodywork's held up pretty well, I do hope it stays in the fold, it's something of a forum legend now.

I bought it for its towing ability but have since bought a 940 estate for the same reason so I'm hoping that someone else on here will want to take the rover on.

I've patched up the rear arch so it's unlikely to fail the next mot on welding.

I've had a couple of swap offers on it including an e36 318is and another 940 lpt estate. I'd rather it stayed within the fold but there seems to be a distinct lack of people who really want it.

If it really won't shift I might have to step in to stop it leaving the forum, although I could hardly be further away and have absolutely no need for a second 2.0 Rover hatchback!  Fingers crossed someone can offer it a home on here.

Aye up Mr FOAD, i'd be interested in some bits off that Polo, I often travel up to Dundee area with work, not sure where you are but let me know if thats doable. My son has the same coupe model, I know he would be interested in the grille / possibly tailgate & other bits but let me know and i'll have a chat with him. Next time i'm planning a trip up is around Nov/early Dec.

It's getting stripped and scrapped as soon as possible so let me know closer to the time and I'll see what's left, I'm selling everything cheap to get rid of it so if I can break even on it, great but there's a lot of local interest so I don't think I'll be left with a lot of stuff.

**Edit** Just saw on another thread you have a 1986 Lancer, If you could get me the parts required to have a lancer front end on my Proton I could hold some parts for you.

Quite a productive day, managed to sell a pair of front seats and a tailgate so soon enough I'll be able to claw half the money back I've wasted on the Polo...

Whilst stripping out the Polo I found these...

That's the guy I bought it from just out of shot in the right photo. Definitely the strangest thing I've found in a used car...

Have you been getting my messages okay?  A few folks have told me they're not going through and then they've all come through in a jumble.  Not sure why.

Yeah, I've not heard anything from the concerto guy so didn't really have anything to report back with, I've given him your address and explained the situation.
