The Alto is a micro-car and the Polo is a small hatchback. They are totally different to drive but if I had to pick one at the moment it would be the Alto.

The shocks and springs are in good order and the bushes don't creak so hopefully giving it a wire brush, Kurust, primer and a coat of paint will preserve it that bit longer. I need to replace the cylinders, lines and handbrake cables before fitting it to the car.

Probably not, I'd need the shocks replaced and it's not something they could do apparently.

I think if you supply the shocks and springs they would replace them. I had been planning on getting the old axle refurbished but I'll wait and see how my c15 axle goes.

There's a decent amount of load space in the back of the 305, I've chucked the spare axle into it and will be dropping the car off at my local garage to have all of the rear brakes renewed because I seriously can't be bothered.

The Polo's odometer stopped working so I took the opportunity to swap the clocks

The rev counter is from a mk1 Golf and the odometer is from a Polo, I found a set as close to the original mileage as possible.

Polo looks very smart on the alloys.

Bottletop alloys scrubbed the rear arches so I swapped them for a set of 13' bbs alloys which fit nicely.

I'm planning on buying some new tyres shortly too.

I can only assume that another one of my wanker neighbours reversed his van into it this morning and the tow bar has pushed the rear valance in and ripped off the bumper. Fucking cunt.

 

In other news I removed the Pierberg carb and fitted a weber with manual choke.

The difference is unbelievable, it really flies now and the throttle is so much more responsive, It's loads of fun to thrash. The weber is meant to improve performance and fuel economy but I'd don't see how economy will improve if I'm planting the foot all the time.

Can't get a lot of width of wheel at the back because of the arch shape and the filler neck, it's really annoying.  The BBS are a traditional choice and suit the car better than the Bottletops I reckon.  Shit news on the bumper, if you're lucky it'll all clip back together and that valance dent looks high enough to be in the single skinned area.  Hit and run stuff like that is totally not on, it's been a fair thump to do that much damage so they would have definitely known they'd done it.  All the air needs to escape out of their tyres somewhere inconvenient when it's raining and there's no phone signal.

I emailed his company who investigated and found the driver responsible and he admitted liability. I insisted on keeping insurance out of it so they offered £150 as compensation which is better than nothing. I am going to use the money to buy a big hammer to twat the dent back into shape and fit another bumper.
