DodgyBastard Posted July 13, 2017 Author Posted July 13, 2017 It's a lovely wee thing. But you've small car covered with both this and the equally lovely polo. Which do you prefer? Sent from my SM-A510F using Tapatalk The Alto is a micro-car and the Polo is a small hatchback. They are totally different to drive but if I had to pick one at the moment it would be the Alto. DodgyBastard Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Had a bash at cleaning up my c15/305 axle... DSC_0524 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0527 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0543 by srblythe, on Flickr The shocks and springs are in good order and the bushes don't creak so hopefully giving it a wire brush, Kurust, primer and a coat of paint will preserve it that bit longer. I need to replace the cylinders, lines and handbrake cables before fitting it to the car. alcyonecorporation, Supernaut, Six-cylinder and 3 others 6
alcyonecorporation Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Are you going to go to that firm to get the other beam rebuilt?
DodgyBastard Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Are you going to go to that firm to get the other beam rebuilt? Probably not, I'd need the shocks replaced and it's not something they could do apparently.
DodgyBastard Posted August 2, 2017 Author Posted August 2, 2017 Oh, bugger.I think if you supply the shocks and springs they would replace them. I had been planning on getting the old axle refurbished but I'll wait and see how my c15 axle goes. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk alcyonecorporation 1
DodgyBastard Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 There's a decent amount of load space in the back of the 305, I've chucked the spare axle into it and will be dropping the car off at my local garage to have all of the rear brakes renewed because I seriously can't be bothered. DSC_0559 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0562 by srblythe, on Flickr The Polo's odometer stopped working so I took the opportunity to swap the clocks DSC_0551 by srblythe, on Flickr The rev counter is from a mk1 Golf and the odometer is from a Polo, I found a set as close to the original mileage as possible. DSC_0601 by srblythe, on Flickr I also fitted some BMW bottle top alloys to the Polo Polo2 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0585 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0579 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0581 by srblythe, on Flickr I like them but I know they won't be to everyone's taste. Don't worry, I didn't "bin" the original wheels. My old Proton has returned to the yard, it has been through 4 different owners since I had it and now looks like this. DSC_0569 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0568 by srblythe, on Flickr It's getting raced in a new formula of banger racing being introduced up here called "back to basics". I knew when I sold it it would end up either in the scrapyard or on the oval. Mr Laurence, DeeJay, Coprolalia and 5 others 8
bub2006 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 How that happened in don't know but we'll played foad
chaseracer Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Those bottle-tops suit the Polo well. KruJoe 1
DodgyBastard Posted August 6, 2017 Author Posted August 6, 2017 Those bottle-tops suit the Polo well. It's a shame that they make it a much harsher ride so I'm going back to the steel wheels until I can find some suitable 13" Alloys or hubcaps. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
omegod Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 There's a 305 estate in one of my local breakers but I'm struggling to share photos via flickr due to photo buckets recent spaz attack, any parts needed let me know
drum Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Has the proton been to Forfar? Shade rool Forfar. Or would like to. Tam 1

DodgyBastard Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 Bottletop alloys scrubbed the rear arches so I swapped them for a set of 13' bbs alloys which fit nicely. I'm planning on buying some new tyres shortly too. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk worldofceri, Dirk Diggler, DeeJay and 6 others 9
DodgyBastard Posted August 21, 2017 Author Posted August 21, 2017 Went out to my car this morning to find it like this. DSC_0037 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0039 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0040 by srblythe, on Flickr I can only assume that another one of my wanker neighbours reversed his van into it this morning and the tow bar has pushed the rear valance in and ripped off the bumper. Fucking cunt. In other news I removed the Pierberg carb and fitted a weber with manual choke. DSC_0034 by srblythe, on Flickr DSC_0038 by srblythe, on Flickr The difference is unbelievable, it really flies now and the throttle is so much more responsive, It's loads of fun to thrash. The weber is meant to improve performance and fuel economy but I'd don't see how economy will improve if I'm planting the foot all the time. bub2006 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Definitely looks towbar damage. Cant be too hard to trace? Id be going radio rental if it was my motor. oldcars 1
vulgalour Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Can't get a lot of width of wheel at the back because of the arch shape and the filler neck, it's really annoying. The BBS are a traditional choice and suit the car better than the Bottletops I reckon. Shit news on the bumper, if you're lucky it'll all clip back together and that valance dent looks high enough to be in the single skinned area. Hit and run stuff like that is totally not on, it's been a fair thump to do that much damage so they would have definitely known they'd done it. All the air needs to escape out of their tyres somewhere inconvenient when it's raining and there's no phone signal. Felly Magic 1
Felly Magic Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Utter bastards there FOAD, it would be a terrible shame if they had 4 flat tyres on a cold winter morning

DodgyBastard Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 FOAD How did the Alto selling drama end? Have you heard anything back from the guy? I blocked his number so have no idea what happened with it, he did manage to find his way here and found my Alto sale thread, contacted admin and made legal threats. Why do you ask?
stillOrange Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Your Tata selling thread reminded me about the Alto, that's all. Now I'm really curious what threats he made...
Exiled_Tat_Gatherer Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Have you asked around the doors to see if anyone knows who did the damage? Or are you already certain/clocked the van earlier type thing? No way of sorting it out 'like gentleman'?Excellent tat fettling by the way.... Just spent a fair bit of free time this afternoon reading a lot of this. Have you attacked the rear valance or will you leave it as is behind the bumper?

I emailed his company who investigated and found the driver responsible and he admitted liability. I insisted on keeping insurance out of it so they offered £150 as compensation which is better than nothing. I am going to use the money to buy a big hammer to twat the dent back into shape and fit another bumper. worldofceri, J4mes, DeeJay and 8 others 11
