Newest car I've ever bought!

Every winter I seem to go through a phase of wanting something a little bit newer/modern but have never really found anything I actually wanted until now.

It drives pretty much like an old car.

I've admired those in a "if I were to get something modern it'd be one of those" sort of way. Looks good.

I've looked at them for a few years now and i  can't believe they're still worth 20k at a similar age to that one.  Crazy how well they hold there value really.   I love how they drive though proper old school feel well bought 😉

My Mum had one of the previous model, 13 plate. Bought new , in 2021, it was worth the same.(WBAC quote).

I can’t think of anyone off hand tbh. What area of Stoke has it been recovered to? @sutty2006 is in Stoke too and is an actual mechanic with contacts and stuff.

@RetroShite

google “Precision vehicle repairs” in Newcastle under Lyme. He’s a top bloke and would definitely help you out, he could also put you onto someone to tow it there too.

which recovery firm is it sat with? Mansfields, motorclinic, Jon beech?

It's with Jon Beech at the moment but I don't know if arrangements have been made to just transport it up here and find someone closer to home to have a look at it.

Ok, let me know if you need any assistance. I do know a couple of the recovery lads on there so if I can help in any way let me know.

Some recent arrivals!

Had one of these Alto's in 2015 and brought it to Shitefest!

Someone else I knew had the silver one at the time and we managed to get some pics of them together at the time.

All vehicles on Retroshite are bought and paid for, it makes for a much simpler process as doing anything on commission would just over complicate things.

There's more to it than multiplying the amount of tickets sold by the ticket price. A lot of people looking at that calculation thinking I'm making a lot more than I am.

There's a small percentage on each transaction taken by the payment gateway and the website developer which all adds up over the course of a month.

I'm spending thousands a week on advertising plus there's the additional cost of collection and delivery I'm swallowing when offering free delivery.

I usually break even or lose money on trials bikes as they are a bit of a niche market but everything else seems to do fine.

The base Sierra certainly lost money, condition and presentability matters and really I paid to much for it but I set the ticket price a little higher than normal in hopes that a genuine enthusiast would enter for it and I'd say it was a success in getting it into the right hands.

I could've had lower ticket prices and made more money but that might have increased the chances of it falling into the wrong hands.

People do approach me on a regular basis asking me to raffle their car on commission but when I tell them the way it runs it puts them off.

Set a date and let the vehicle go on that date regardless of ticket sales. If it sells 3, 300 or 3000 tickets it still goes to the winner with free delivery included.

You also have to give me the vehicle so there won't be a chance to withhold it if it fails to capture the imagination of people.

These terms are usually enough without adding all of the additional costs to put people off asking for commission, its much easier that I buy the vehicle for an agreed price then it's mine to do as I please with.

The whole point in doing any of this was so I could dick around with cars and not have to get a real job.

All of the skills I've honed from arguing with people online, taking photos of cars and trading I've managed to make into a somewhat unconventional job which for the most part I'm excited to do each day.

Fantastic reply thankyou 😀😀😀.

Well I'm pleased you've made a business out of it and I think I'll try entering a few when I see something I really fancy 😀😀

Cheers, I'm getting a variety of stuff all the time.

I seem to have a few "big" cars coming in at the moment.

I'm very careful about what roffles i enter on autoshite, and the same applies to other gambling.

I did buy a ticket for the red mx5 you had the other week though.

I thought about buying a ticket for the mazda pickup you had but then thought thst I would never use it.

Common sense, don't enter for things you don't want.

I've had jags on and off for donkeys years and when I was a kid at the auctions at the old meat market in Glasgow, green, 2.9 and wheel trims meant i didn't have many competing bids. You're taking it to new depths with all of that, plus wool seats and Spanish gearbox.

Off to buy my tickets now!
