DodgyBastard Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 Hopefully I'll be the new owner of this later on today... Currently for sale for a whopping £2800 without mot but does look to be in good condition from the photos. Decided to try and flog some shite to justify buying it such as the L200 The Subaru GLF This 305 estate And the Corolla Which strangely I feel most attached to.. Asimo Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 That 504 truck looks amazingly sound for one of them, where’s it been hiding? They are usually as rotten as a surfer’s Lancia. anonymous user, fatharris and CreepingJesus 1 2

dome Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Ooft. 504 pickup. Proper Group B rally car that is https://rallygroupbshrine.org/the-group-b-cars/rally-cars/peugeot-504-pickup/
DodgyBastard Posted November 27, 2021 Author Posted November 27, 2021 504 should hopefully be here on Monday, I had hoped to drive it home but when I turned up to buy it this afternoon the battery was dead and wouldn't jump start. I brought a fully charged battery this evening, got it going and the brakes were seized having sat there for a couple of years. Took it for a quick spin up and down the road and it seemed nice enough to drive apart from the brakes sticking and the brake pedal going to the floor. TrabbieRonnie Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Proper car! Had similar fun up here with the jeep (in rear-wheel drive) yesterday. Good luck with all the sales too btw, I'm enjoying daydreaming about owning your brown Subie... and the Corolla... oh, and the old pick up!

Subaru has sold, also sold the Daihatsu Terios this morning. I've had some interest in the truck and the 305. I had a load of messages from people in Bradford about the Corolla but think I'd be as well keeping it. Steviemillar, dome, TrabbieRonnie and 2 others 4 1

cobblers Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I could listen to that 505 with a cheeky bit of turbo whistle all day, bloody lovely. Are they a 2.5 diesel like what ended up in the talbot express?

You like it and it's not worth a pile. Seriously, keep it. I've still not forgiven Mrs DL for running her G plate Corolla terminally low on oil. We'd only just got together and I thought I'd do a few checks on her car to show my skillz. There was nothing registering on the dipstick and the performance was slightly sluggish for what it was. It still sounded sweet though. It didn't last much longer though despite being ridiculously clean and solid. Rab 1

DodgyBastard Posted November 28, 2021 Author Posted November 28, 2021 Most of the snow had melted by the time I got the Skoda out, it thanked me by overheating just as I got to the unit. It was making a horrible scraping noise driving along the unit road but turned out it was the noise of boiling coolant coming from the expansion tank. Topped it up, bled it and carried on trying to skid in what little snow we had left. Also the Strada/L200 is potentially sold, had someone out tonight, agreed on a price and they should be picking it up tomorrow. That's quite a successful weekend of selling, I had considered listing them on here but after reading that Focus sale thread I thought I'd save myself the grief of trying to flog some overpriced shite. DodgyBastard Posted November 29, 2021 Author Posted November 29, 2021 Got the 205 back this afternoon, it had the rear axle swapped, new brake lines, clutch cable and exhaust. The previous axle was seized solid so this one feel pretty good in comparison. The only issue is now I can feel how harsh the front suspension is and also think I might have a broken spring as there's a clunk coming from the left somewhere. It's a good little car and have missed the smooth boost from the turbo diesel so going to make more of an effort to use it. I've left the 504 and hope to get on mot on it soon. Looks pretty fucking good though! Tenmil Socket, rainagain, Coprolalia and 21 others 24
Jikovron Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Ahh man I hoped the skoda was going to be it's usual reliable self, hopefully just a frozen rad rather than damn engine related issues 😕

It was very cold yesterday and I hadn't checked the coolant levels since buying it. On another note, how accurate is the fuel gauge? It seems to get down to a quarter of a tank then move to zero with no points in between, haven't run out of fuel yet...
Jikovron Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 If the fuel gauge does tiny erratic jumps when turning left then it still has something in the tank,,when it stops doing that it's time to fuel up. Apart from that the gauge is actually decently accurate amazingly Just remembered it needs a breather pipe fitting to the tank next to the filler neck as it tips fuel out when over half full , many appologies I'd basically lived with and forgotten about that issue for 9 years such that it became a subconscious foible. Cheers, I'm always reluctant to fill the tanks on old cars for fear of leaking tanks, I've only filled the tank over halfway in the Skoda once so learned quite early on that it had leaks. I'd put super unleaded in too so it was extra smelly!

DodgyBastard Posted December 3, 2021 Author Posted December 3, 2021 My dad just bought a newer car, an Audi A3 2008 so I've been roped into flogging the Avensis. It's a 1.8 petrol, I previously won it in a roffle around 3 years ago. It's been used regularly and always been reliable, had wheel bearings replaced at mot times and never needed much else. What's a 2003 Avensis really worth these days?
paulplom Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 I'd put it up for a grand or even more. Used prices are mental these days.
