I've never been to a car show that wasn't a bit shonkily organised with a heroically shit announcer, so Cholmondeley was just conforming to type. It was still a grand day out, which is all that really matters.

They use it as the press office during the Pageant of Power. That's one of the reasons I like Cholmondeley.

 

You know that farty little access road over the bridge that people bimble along to get to the main field? That's the start straight.

 

Now there is another venue where we could establish a long standing negative record.

Had a great "Shite" weekend once again... no pics because useless photographer, too lazy, someone else did ....take your pick... highlights for me were having 3 "Shropshire Lasses" in one night and then worrying when they changed the label to Shropshire Lads ... The Vauxhall muppets thinking all "Autoshite R shite" and not realising that we took it as a compliment and moving to another part of the site in a huff and sitting forlornly on their own as no-one went anywhere near them.... and finally the announcer, who was the star of the show for me even after some wag suggested his sexual desires were a little unusual.

I haven't got much more to add. Cholmondeley was as epic as ever. Autoshite won the show because we don't give a shit. Les the announcer is a cock knocker and Bob's statement on his sexual preferences had me genuinely lolling.

 

Roll on next year.

I'm absolutely gutted to have to miss this. Both myself and James were very much looking forward to it, I particularly wanted to catch up with you chaps.
I had cleaned the car, cleared the camera down and charged the spare battery... then the intermediate shaft snapped on the Volvo.

Engine is now a lump of clangy metallic sounding junk and the fate of the car rests on me finding an engine in the next few days.

 

Next May for sure... it'll have been 3years since my last visit then.

Trig - given the heroics from the Scots, no one south of the border can claim it was too far away. Felt like a large number of the campers were technically locals! Myself included...

 

I hate to bang on about it but remember on the Saturday after 4 hours sleep I flew to London, train to Essex then drove a bus back to Glasgow in order to get another 5 hours sleep before doing Chumly in a day.
