Any car that you have to service more often than you fill up is

French.

The door cards in this were tan and meant to be black, also some nit wit has painted the rear interior panels with tan paint to hide the

So for the door cards I was lazy and didn't even take them off, wiped them down with some alcohol wipes and then just banged a coat of halfords vinyl spray on.

Looks bleeding brand new. Gonna see how it drys and give it some stick to make sure it don't peel off or ote. And will be a result if it stays as it is.

Also put some millers 20w-50 in and a new filter to keep the Essex happy.

Hurrah! here's mine:

Side_zps16e66d0d.png

Had tubular manifolds and adjustable coilovers. Sounded and went great, and went sideways like no other. I also found footwell cramped, simply couldn't drive it in a pair of DM's. Overdrive box and the change was totally honking.

Looks good. It did surprise me how quick it was really, dead torquey.

I like how they fit a foot rest for your left foot, but you can't rest your foot on there as there is about 0.4 microns of a gap to get it past the clutch.

Am informing a chap of my chaply acquaintance of the purchasability of this fine vehicle.  Will need to check import duties for Yorkshire, as he lives there.  Will also check that roads invented there.  Not sure.   Princess Bubblegum, you say?  Is the black bin liner stuck to one wheel included in the deal?

I love that random coloured interior. It is an effect that I am trying to perfect in my cars.

It should not have a clutch.

Motd till March 2016.

4 speed non overdrive.

Slight clunking from the front but nothing seems to have fallen off or will fall off. (probably)

Went on a good blast a few weeks ago all round derbyshire and it's ace, I got hot in traffic on the way back but this warrior didn't, (kenlowe fan)

Stainless tank fitted.

Some braided hoses.

Meant to have a piper cam.

New callipers for the mot this year.

Heater blower doesn't work. Heater does though.

A few other little niggles I can't remember but mechanically sorted and nothing too drastic.

And if you're lucky next year it might be worth £1650.

Have a Sunday evening bump back to page 1.

Only just seen this - very nice. Looks good value too, most of these you see for sale look fairly shagged paint/body-wise and are little or no cheaper.

I am after one of these at some point in the not to distant future but sadly have other more pressing issues at the moment, that means haphazzardly bodging together 1970s cars with metal from fridges, pop bottles and Dulux gloss are put aside for my current full (spare) time job of lashing together 1970's houses with Isopon, gaffer tape and cable ties.

GLWTS.

One of the things that I love about all or most Princess Annemobiles is the sheer shonkiness of the dash.   Looked like a bag of spanners when new, and age just improves* things.

The crazy thing about the Se5a (post 1972) Dashsboard is that it replaces a prefectly attractive and functional and attractive 1960's styled one...

If you bought an early GTE between 1969 till 71 it had the same dash as the Scimitar GT, Its a fibreglass shell padded with leathercloth*

ScimitarGTE_2e.jpg

*ok its just cheap vinyl.

Presumably they changed it as part of a push to faclift the interior for the 1970's and a means of streamlining production, (the new facias were crap mass produced injection moulded plastic instad of hand layed grp. This is why they all cracked and went brittle center consoles were made the same way and they are shit too. To compensate for the crapness of the new interior plastics buyers could have a free choice of interior colour (though the only options were black and tan.)

Scimitars still had a decent following in the 80's and early 90's and back then you could actually buy a fibreglass upgrade for the dash and console. They are really hard to find now though... I've got them in my 72 5a:

Its a decent improvement on the standard one, even if it does still look a bit like Darth Vaders helmet!

ps brochure pervs may enjoy looking through the rest of the brochure shots here: http://www.sporting-reliants.com/ScimitarSE5_brochures.htm
