I'm 5' 11 1/2", can anyone tell me if I'm too tall to fit in Mk1/mk2 MR2s?....before any smart guys say so, I mean the ones what have roofs on em...

Had this same question on RR a while ago, apparently not - but the only way your gonna know for sure...well you know!

Surely it depends what your leg:body ratio is....

Iome normal I is.

In the States the X1/9 was retrofitted with slimmer seat backs- no kidding.

I'm 6"2 and fitted fine in a Mk1 MR2, you'll be reet.

Ah, but we're you doing a Louis Theroux?

This, I'm just under 6 foot and whenever I get into a car I put the seat back as far as it will go and think "urgh, is that as far back as it goes?", with my left knee squashed into the dash or where 5th gear is.

Only car I've driven that I've had to pull the seat forward in is a Signum (and probably therefore Vectra).

I'm well over 6 foot and weigh similar to one unladen Eddie Stobbart trailer and I found Mr.2's to be spacious and comfortable. Very adjustable and driving position is almost perfect. Best I've found anyway.

I'm just short of 5'11" and have owned both a mk2 MR2 and an X1/9, and fitted in both of them with the roof on.  X1/9 was a bit like dancing-pumps though, whereas the MR2 was more like fleecy slippers.  And I have big feet.

Thanks gents, MR2 ownership a distinct possibility.

I've had this problem with the MX5, I just about fit in but it ain't really comfortable. Even with the seat fully down I feel a bit windswept with the roof down too.

This is a 2013 model, steering has zero feel and is light as a feather and the gearbox is very snicky so as a car it doesn't do it for me. It's a bit slow too even for an MX5; I guess they'd become a bit of a porker by this time.

Agreed.

Go on ebay/autotrader and find a local one ... go for a look, you don't need to drive it, just sit in it.

Yeah, find one  and sit in it. I did that with an MGF before I bought. Really is the easiest solution.

6'2 and fitted fine into an Mk2 MR2, seat far back as you can and you'll be okay.

Fatha_Duke is about half an inch shorter than me (6'1-ish), but he has immense trouble fitting into normal cars without his head hitting the roof. Whereas I always have tons of overhead space, but often have to choose between either jamming my knee against the wheel, or not being able to reach the dashboard controls.

Neither of us has tried to drive an MR2 though, so you should probably just ignore all that.

Another lankey git here confirming that you'll be fine after I drove this ropey bader spec example last week.

Mk1 and 2 both have an abundance of room.
