Citroen Xsara Picasso? Surely this is a modern day Morris Minor.

I have to disagree, at least the Morris has some endearing features. The Picasso, is not shite, they are just bloody awful imho....

Nothing, but nothing says that you have given up on life than driving a picasso....

Nothing, but nothing suggests Citroen have given up building exciting cars than building the Picasso.

Picasso himself did say that it took him a lifetime to learn how to draw like a child so the 'Picasso' moniker is apt.

Precisely why in ten years time we'll all be praising the mentalist who is prepared to scrape off years of family abuse and get one running as a daily.

My citroen mechanic has just bought one to replace a dead xantia estate as the daily. He also has a 2cv van, sm ( for sale at £25k), three tractions, ds Pallas, and a bx estate at the house in France.

This is getting too hung up on the Picasso, what other suggestions are there?

AVantime, c6, that very weird Renault -wind?

The Sang Yong Rodius, which even in 20 years' time will be driven by extreme masochists and hatchet-faced men and women with enormous families.

The Citroen C3 Pluriel, which in 40 years' time will be viewed in the same* way as Chapron DSs are today.  Maybe.

Edit:

Pluriel, not Plural.  Sodding autocorrect.

Dacia duster is likely to be future shite, and I can imagine how excited we will all be when someone drags a 4wd version out of a barn somewhere. OMG!MEGARARE ETC

I'll stick my neck out and say BMW Z3. Especially in 1.8 flavour, on steelies.

Given how broad the spectrum of current shite it will be all moderns that get cheap enough and have turned out to be reliable.

All the ' I'd never have an Audi/BMW/Kia/skoda' lot will turn out to be hypocrites when they become cheap.

Any Chevroletwoo. At the moment they're thunderously shit, so will have masochistic appeal. They'll also be incredibly rare.

Other than that, any run of the mill family hack type vehicle that's made it to their fifteenth year will be shite. It might not be many...

I'm nominating the Mitsubishi Mirage as nailed-on Futureshite.

It's a brand new car that looks like a well preserved decade old Korean-made giffer-mobile, and seemingly only has one selling point: economy.

Why anyone would buy one today, when similar things can be bought that are better and/or cheaper, is beyond me. They also seem to be fairly rare as well, adding weight to this theory.

Add to this the distinct possibility that Mitsubishi could leave the UK market, as their range is just plain weird at the moment and they seem to be struggling to find buyers, and we'll be lusting after these things in 20 years' time or so.

The Mirage: 2035's Talbot Samba.mitsubishi-mirage-awd.png

I'll have a base model, with scratched to fook placcy wheeltrims, in Plasma Purple FTW.

Plasma purple is not as wacky in real life sadly, used to be 1 around the corner from my house. Mitsubishi's sales have gone through the roof in the past 12 months from what I saw recently, and most of those sales appear to be the new Outlander which comes in plug-in hybrid flavour too. Not something that I think will concern us too greatly in the near future I'd hasten to add!

Variety is the spice of life in terms of manufacturers as far as I'm concerned.

Mazda 6-from what I see many of them are rusting their way to the scrapper already.

Fiat Stilo

Any Seat made after 2000 but before 2005.

I think the Signum is shite right now. In a few years time the 'Chrysler' Delta and Yspilon, plus the Alfa Mito.

Also anything sold under the Dodge brand apart from pick-up trucks and the Challenger - I was surprised to see a normal looking bloke behind the wheel of a Nitro yesterday as I had assumed they were appealing to the same demographic as the PT Cruiser.

Suzuki Kizashi.

Pointlessly large engine, CVT and 4wd to further strangle the economy and increase undesirability and a Suzuki so not from a make with a track record for large cars. They're rare now so god knows how scarce they will be in twenty years time. Cast-iron future shite.

He should have known better!

My wife has a knack of selling cars immediately before they become shite. I therefore nominate the Nissan Almera .

Rover Streetwise (I'm hoping!) - The modern day Rancho without the practicality.

A winning combination of k-series 'reliability' BL (sorta) build quality, Rover gifferness and defunct manufacturer all in a pointless jacked-up body with rubber bumpers.

Mine looks like this and I rather like it!

$T2eC16VHJHEE9ny2rTUnBQ(rS1pLpQ~~60_35.J

And probably the current Dacia line-up. I reckon they'll become like 90s Kia's as Dacia steadily up their game as years go on.

Also the current MGs - there's an MG6 taxi going about here but other than that I don't think I've ever seen another one on the road. Don't look too bad imo.

I was going through and organising all of my general 'stuff' and found a Top Gear book that gives some behind the scenes on various films they've made through the years. One of the films made me think of a car I had just about forgotten about.

37995toy.jpg

The Toyota Aygo. Former Stig Ben Collins and the touring car drivers all agreed that they were tremendous fun and tough little things.

- If the internet is to be believed Toyota's don't break down.

- According to Parker's the petrols will do 61 MPG+ and the diesels (1.4 HDI), 68 MPG.

- They're all tax band A (£0) or B (£20).

- Insurance groups range from 2 to 4.

Could these be the Pug 205 or similar of the future? Being 2005 onwards they aren't quite at the sub £1k mark yet but they can't be far off.

I'd love a Base model duster 4x4. 11k brand new. If I was to buy new then that would be it I think. Or a lada niva.

Good shout on the 300C

Have to admit I really fancy one of these. Still about 5k for a good one so well out of my price range at the moment
