New Uniroyals probably cheaper than used tyres.

Hey old bloke.. I'm interested... will they fit a moggi ok? I thought 2

155 80 14s were the ones to have?

I went round to the local Tyre place last Monday and asked if they would mind fitting tyres sourced elsewhere. Gave them a chance to get within a tenner of the price and they couldn't, so said they'd happily do it for £10 +vat per wheel, which I thought was fair.

Old wheels are going down the tip

Posted

I had to pay 13 inc vat per wheel to have them fitted

I took the calibra into the local kwak fat to get an Internet bought new tyre swapped on this week.

"No charge mate, and cool car by the way"

£15 each inc vat + disposal. Down south prices.

I usually get my local scrappy to fit tyres, £20 all in (always change in pairs but it's the same if I get 4 done as well which is fair enough).

Posted

My local independent charged £50 to fit ballance and mount 4. Which I think is a fair price.

Delivered! Took them out to the car but will have a proper look in a bit at lunchtime!

Will dig out the wheels from by the shed, wipe them down and get the tyres fitted tomorrow, then fit the wheels to the car!

Does this mean week 10 2015, ie W/C 2nd march, not even 10 weeks old!

Cant wait to fit them, bet we have the biggest drought ever this year now with no rain...

The front tyres on my Starlet are on their last legs, ones nearly bald with a slow puncher and the other has a cracked side wall and with the mot looming next month I've just ordered myself a pair of 195/45/15s for it of tyreleader.

They come in at £82 delivered for the pair which is at least £10 cheaper than everywhere else so I thought it's worth a try.

Meant to reply ages ago - two are now on the front of an Octavia diesel, replacing a pair of Mich Energies. They're like all Uniroyals I've had, nice feel and amazing great grip in the wet, a bit soft in the dry after Michelins as expected. If anything, they feel to grip harder in the wet than the dry. The sharkskin tech claims to mean less turbulence in the water passing through the grooves, so it escapes faster. Puddles did seem to vanish well earlier this week - but they always do with new tyres, unless they're a daft size. Quiet too, but they are 195 65 15s instead of the standard 205 55 16s, which the suspension didn't appreciate.

If they last 80% of the distance the Michelins covered then they're no more expensive. Probably a good tyre if you don't change onto a winter set for the cold months.

£5 a tyre without balancing ( tend to do that on rears) fitted.

£10 a tyre with balancing and disposal included at Mo's on New Hall Lane Preston.

my local independent charged me £30 cash last time to fit four tyres and balance them.

Some nice looking nexen's on tyreleader at the moment, the rears for the MG can be a bit pricey at times

Just ordered x2 hankook ventus evo for the saab they was £55 each for some 225/45/17 which is pretty god damn cheap compared to everywhere else.

Just taken in a set of four Michelins for my next door neighbour,  They've been shipped from Germany so presumably from Tyreleader..

Date stamp is 4412 so nearly three years old!

Thats disappointing, was the date code noted on the site and tyres priced as such?

They usually do that, i bought a really cheap set of tyres for the Landcruiser that were code dated 2012, roughly £30 apiece cheaper...if they've sent these as new tyres @ full price i'd get onto them pronto and see what they want to do.

They weren't from Mytyres or Oponeo were they?

Got Hankooks for the i10. Two for the price of one over here. Fab!

Don't know.  I just took them in for my next door neighbour.  He got them from Tyreleader.  I expect they'll get worn out long before they perish from old age, but still...  If it was me I'd be a bit annoyed.  He said he paid about £56  - Michelin Energy in something like 215/60r16.

Toyo T1R hooligan specials for the Puma would only be £34 each. You bad people. I wanted to trash the current no name ditchfinders first, but now have a big want for sticky summer rubber.

Fook yes get 'em.

Best gripping tyres i ever had on a W124, noisy and harsh ride but if its grip you want there's sod all to touch 'em for the price.

What is the general consensus on Hankook Ventus Primes like? I'm thinking about what to get next for the Saab (currently shod with Dunlop Sports) and these are currently £35.60 per tyre (+£8 a tyre fitted and balanced) which seems like like a right bargain. If they are shit I'll go for something else but wonder what the consensus is?

I used to run hankook ventus (not prime) on the puma and they were ace.

Cant fault tyreleader, my 2 orders have been with me within 3 days, and all the tyres top notch.

They probably hate me now though as i last ordered 3, and i bet they dont get many people just wanting 1 tyre! I just need it to fuck it down so i can use them in the wet!

Have a few of us bought stuff off this tyreleader lot then? I am thinking of buying a set of van tyres for my trailer but looking them up on trustpilot or whatever they sound like a right shower of shit. Theyre certainly cheap enough but it seems like if you actually need to get in touch with them for any reason, you can forget it.

I'm planning to get my next set from here. I called in at my local tyre place and they said they charge £15 a tyre to fit so I need to take this extra £60 into account. Is that a common price for fitting only?

Posted

I got two fitted by the quality, careful fitters at 'speedys' of Derby, for a tenner.

Posted

I've bought from Tyreleader twice - on both occasions the tyres arrived within three working days of my order, were correct and fresh (xx15 DOT codes).

Is that a tenner each or for the pair?

Bought a couple of Bridgestones for the Fiesta (195/50/15) from Tyreleader £72 delivered. Ordered Monday PM arrived Thursday. Paid £30 to get them fitted but still about £20 cheaper than if the fitter supplied the tyres.

Not heard of Openeo before and had a look at the site the other night. Got a better deal from Tyreleader for the afforementioned tyres but couldn't believe the price for 225/40/18 Pirelli P Zeros. Just paid £388 fitted for a set on the Focus which is cheap, but they were £71 each on Openeo! Will certainly bear them in mind in te future.
