My mothers nextdoor neighbour has offered their Proton Gen2

06 plate Orange stood for 3 years never moved last T&T March 12

All 4 bumper corners have been hit, exhaust rotten, all door rubbers growing moss and today the wheel bin fell smashing a rear light.

Looking around £300

Does anyone have any Gen on them (see what i did there)

Not the actual car but looks like this

I'd have thought £30 a better offer to take it off their hands.

Humberside police love them.

Humberside Police are so impressed by the Proton GEN-2 that the force has just ordered 20 GEN-2 GSX models from their local dealer, Maple Garage, Hull.  Alan Hocking from Humberside Police commented: “Having had excellent results from our current and past Protons it was a natural progression to evaluate the GEN-2. We have an operational area in which the GEN-2 will be a very suitable vehicle and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Proton and their local dealer, Maple Garage, in the future.â€Â

As well as having Proton’s proven reliability, the GEN-2 is a budget-conscious choice, with prices ranging from just £6,995 for the new 1.3 limited edition to £10,595 for the top of the range 1.6 GSX. Every model has high levels of specification, including air conditioning, power steering, twin airbags and Blaupunkt radio/ CD - meaning Humberside Police get more for their money. Lotus ride and handling across the range means the GEN-2 is a responsive drive as well as having a comfortable ride, making it an ideal car for the force.

Needless to say a small child on a BMX can outrun them.

To be fair these probably offset their ISF

I;d be worried about why it's been parked up all that time.

£300 would be the max of it's value alright, I'd be honest and see that at abut £175 tops. Essentially you're just 'buying a reg plate' because £300 sounds cheap for an 06 car, but there will be much better out there for the same price, albeit a lot older.

It was parked up due to a drink drive ban for 18 months then a free bus pass.

Stuff like brake consumables aren't the cheapest in comparison to other similar cars. As people have said I'd be looking at offering scrap say £120 or whatever then submitting it for a test. If its been stood 18 mths then the discs will be rusted to fuck possibly calipers seized. Cars hate being sat, you usually find they work ok at first then stuff like wheel bearings pack in due to the grease drying out etc.

After three years of standing around, there will be damage to the mechanical parts. Brakes rusted, rust in the tank, old fuel aso.

I'd offer £50 then if I were you. If it was something vaguely interesting or good I'd be inclined to take a chance for sake of £50.

Don't be too generous will you! 'Id probably gamble 20p on this'

I'm going to go in with 200 quid. It's more than scrap and if you blew the moss off it, free'd the brakes and wanged it on ebay you'd get your money back (probably).

I always thought they looked pretty neat as a design and the interiors are quick quirky but do kind of have the textured yoghurt pot feel when it comes to build quality.

If nothing else it'll make an excellent drag or drift car.

3 years isn't too bad to be standing, MoTed worse etc. Problem is even one running with MoT isn't worth much.

The only thing I know is that the 1.3 wont crack 100mph. I don't know why I know this, or where I learned it from

Just a little folow up on this

As the car hasn't moved for 3 years he wants £750 for it.

Is this a spot the decimal point competition?

Because I can't see one.

At that price it'll be a good few more years before it moves again.

That car is worth precisely whatever it would make on the 'bridge IMO.

Where do people get their concept of money from? It would struggle to make that with a test on it.

Same kind of logic that had a newish car sitting unused for years is being applied to the price I see

agreed - can be bought for peanuts [shagged] c/w MOT  :?
