Shitefest 2015 5-7th June

I'll be in the Starlet though which is a bit naff but it's better than nothing.

You've clearly spent too much time around shiny Fords, and have forgotten the winning ways of a not-that-old, really-quite-dull Toyota. Pure Autoshite!

Will it be hot and sunny?

If it is this cold and miserable the van will win & I will wimp-out on the tent + Honda.

As it stands according to the BBC its going to be dry*, cloudy, 17 degrees with an overnight of about 8

Good to see you're coming to this Trig. I'd say the Starlet is a good choice, better than what I've got planned by bringing the 75, although it has loads of giffer scuffs and and a massive dent in the rear door so has autoshite credentials. I'm starting to wonder if i should borrow my old R8 416GTi from Fatha T though...

Any chance of an update on what is happening??

I can def get to Llangollen on Saturday morning so hopefully the museum meet is still on :)

See the first post. Nothing has really changed!

I'm afraid I did fail to get the horses cleared off the field as early as I'd hoped. There's a danger that this might be Shitefest in more ways than one. Alternatively, everyone gets free compost! If my wife is judged as the standard, you can all WIN massive brownie points by taking a sack of horse muck home. I'm sure* this will work for everyone.

Gawd bless the hotel!

so basically people are camping near Llangollen Friday night, museum Sat morning, then drive to Devils Bridge for Sat night??

We don't have to go to the museum though do we?

Can't we just go to the pub and talk bollocks all night?

I'm really thick as i still don't really understand what is happening! So we are meeting at the museum Friday afternoon/evening say, camping there the night, going around the museum Saturday day before heading to Devil's bridge and then camping where we did last year for the night or two?.

No Trig, if you user name begins A-M, you go to the museum at Llangollen night one.

If it begins N -Z (this is your group), you go to the Bridge of the Devil.

Night two we all swap around and go on a train ride.

That's the plan. If you are at Llangollen before 3 then then a select few are aiming for the 15:10 steam train before hitting Shitefest.

PS my phone has now learnt to suggest shitefest without me prompting it. It will be wanting a crap car raffle ticket next.

We're just kipping and talking bollocks in the museum car park on Friday night, drooling over exhibits Saturday morning. Then we shall go to Devil's Bridge to do more of the same, only we provide the exhibits (apart from the knackered Shogun the Hotel is providing. Sadly the shite-tastic Land Rover has gone).

It wasn't intended to be confusing, just something a bit different. We are actually camping in a riverside field by the museum (not the car park) so tents not a problem.

No obligation to visit the museum Saturday morning, there's plenty to do around Llangollen. Again, you don't have to follow the suggested route (in the 1st post) down to Devil's Bridge, just my idea of a good scenic drive. Simplest thing would be just to set the sat nav and follow all the other tourists on the main A roads...

Weather currently shit, 8 °C today, raining heavily and 50 mph winds here - painful to stand outside in it. Things can only get better!

Last time I went to Wales it perpetually pissed it down. This time though I'll be in a car not on a Honda c90! Is there charges for camping/kipping in motor?

Posted

Bloody hope not! Hope we dont churn up the field if it rains... Whoever jas to park at the top will have to drag the ones at the bottom out!

Xsara has a sticky clutch cable. Makes for interesting pull off of a muddy field I'd imagine. I've put spacers on back wheel for now, hopefully some kind soul who knows more than me will tell me definitely what's gone. I'm going to give the old girl a fettle before it goes to Wales. Even though I've done 350 miles since buying it on Friday already

Ive got a strong clutch dont worry!

I got my puma stuck in a field once with a fucked clutch. Me and a mate had gone for a spliff, slid into the very wet field, did what we did. Coming out again every time i nearly got traction the clutch slipped. After 20 minites of that we pushed the bastard out. Was alot of trophy mud that night

I'm coming in the 944.

You only have to show it damp grass and it bogs down.

I'll be parking on tarmacadam and no mistake.

As per the first post there is a £5 charge for camping, £3 for the museum (do I have to give these details on every page? ;-) ) I didn't ask whether this still applies if you sleep in your car and not a tent, but thought it a bit tight if we're camping in their field and using their toilet etc to expect it for nowt!

I plan to leave London around 10ish, arriving after 4 (hopefully). Routeplanner says it'll be 4hrs 19 but that's always balls, plus I fancy a leisurely stop at a Little Chef or something similarly shite for a spot of lunch.

If the M6 is anything like the M25 on a Friday I'd imagine I need to get past Brum by 2pm atleast.

Let's do our best not to churn up the grassy bits, making a mess of kind people's fields does nobody any favours at all. (And could be rather embarrassing for Mat and Ian).

I think we're all good enough drivers to be able to avoid spinning wheels and acting chavvishly.

On a happy note, the weather is set to improve by the weekend (I booked it), and after looking at my Road Altlas of Great Britain, I can conclude that Llangollen is not in deepest, darkest Wales, it seems  remarkably accessible from your actual Englandshire, in that it is less than 10 miles away! No backing out now!

180 miles from here which was a lot shorter trip than I imagined.

I intended to work half a day Friday but on checking my diary some dickhead (me) has booked a meeting 2-3.30pm in rural County Durham, so expect me there some many hours after I've lost my rag in Friday afternoon traffic.
