I've just realised I lack any sort of portable seating...

Will have to sort that out before we go!

You're coming in a car, which has at one or more seats, right?

We found that Rover seats make fine camping chairs last time :)

Bring a 2CV.  Or buy a folding chair...  ;)

Just on't do what I did once, which was to bring a pair of car seats with me from a different vehicle and then leave the next day, completely forgetting about them (the night was a fairly hazy memory...) Only realised when I was back home 200 miles away by which point someone else had taken them

Well, my plans are to arrive in Monmouth Friday afternoon then i think there's some kind of Cortina meet and convy/road trip on the Saturday and then Sunday it's the Cortina Day show at the Monmouthshire Showground before heading home again Monday.

What are your plans for Saturday night? Devil's Bridge is less than 90 miles from Monmouth, so a possibility maybe...If you haven't already got accommodation sorted.

I'm in.  But I will be surprised if the 405 is still functional come the time!  Needs work and i have zero cash and time!!

Shakey shakey steering woes.

BUT.

If still motoring by then?  Hells yeah.

Nearly. Shitefest 2012 resulted in Mr Binhoker, a lovely chap, breaking into a conversation and stating, clearly and loudly, that he "knew something we all didn't know".

That something was that he had lost the top off the tube, and therefore his pockets were full of toothpaste.

You're very kind Mr!

I shall of course resolve to contain my large creamy pocket gobs of dubious paste within an airline style sandwich bag this year.

If the wheels stay on my car that is.

It did seem a bit Irish but it's just what Google maps said.

How about m40, m42, m5 for 1 junction then a491 to Stourbridge, Bridgnorth then a458 to Shrewsbury, then pick the a5 up?

Irish eh?  Why I oughtta....

Undecided here re Volvo 760 or ford escort as transport. Cambelt and exhaust presently being sorted on the latter, the former is good to go if we ignore the cambelt ( 'looks' ok but no idea when it was changed) Both have shite credentials but which wins?

Posted

760 wins hands down for me...

I was really stuck trying to decide what to take, but I'm all sorted now! Well, not quite, I need to get it home first.

I have arrived in Llangollen a month early. The weather had better be better than this. 2CV camp. Trailer tent is mostly waterproof.

Still not sure what to use for Shitefest. Nippa is prime candidate. Can always bring both cars to the Saturday gathering.

BX or an overweight, underpowered 60 year old car on non servo' drum brakes?

only shite i have will be wondering why its crossed the border into wales and then not be crossing a stretch of water

Posted

Punto got an oil leak, banging exhaust and Flashing eml so yes I'm ready to go!

Posted

I`m not sure what to do either....

Doubt the Tercel or Merc will be ready

So I`m left with my:

1997 Scenic ( proper shite but not that interesting. good for kipping in though )

1959 Standard Pennant ( lovely car and with fold down seats I can kip in it. not shite though )

1998 Escort Van ( shite and good for overnight accomodation too but not that rare or interesting )

1999 Shogun ( as above )

Maybe I could book an MoT in Llangollen for the Tercel and then one in Mid Wales and another for the way home and not turn up for any of them  unless I get pulled.....

5 weeks to go people, is your shite ready?

NO! :-(

Still at the bodyshop, and the driver's seat is away being retrimmed. Apart from that it's perfectly ready - at least it's MOT'd and insured! It *should* be sorted in time, but it's closer than I would like...

There is only one reasonable answer to that question.  The clue is in the formatting above.

Either of those sounds ideal!

I`m afraid the Standard actually has a value so can`t really be classed as shite in my Autoshite definition I reckon....

Although the Escort does have a value it is currently £85 a tonne...

It will all depend on the weather though, doesn`t seem fair on the poor old thing to subject it to rain for 2 days which is probably what will be forecast.
