What's hiding under the gaffer tape on the offside rear wheel arch?

I couldn't collect sadly. I'd have money but not till the 8th when the Triumph goes. Bugger. I've never, ever had a Mondeo.

I have train fare vouchers as well but the journey would truly fuck me up due to my back. :(

Yo BargeKen, I'm happy to slonk on up to WARRENKRAFTWERK garages, pick up and drive down to LONDONIUM for you if ya want?

It'll have to be one of the weekends though due to Mo_working_week.

Ooooooh, that could be a plan! You could haz train vouchers to get back with too!

All totally hinges on what happens on the 8th though. No Triumph sale, no money, no Mondy. Just being honest and open.

Ben: Are you buying another car?

Me: Errrr

Mrs. PBK: You're buying another car? Why? We haven't got the space for another car. What do you want another car for? If you get another car you'll have to sell the Beetle as well.

Me: Errrr, ummmm.

Mrs. PBK: You're not buying another car. I thought you were going to get the seats sorted for the Volvo? You're not buying another car.

Me: Errrrrr, ummmmm. It's a nice car.

Mrs. PBK: I don't care. I thought you liked the Volvo?

Me: Errrr, I do. It's just that.........

Mrs. PBK: You're not buying another car, get the Volvo seats sorted out. When is that Triumph going.

Me: Sigh.

Welcome to my world.

I'm really sorry but it looks like I'm out :( :( :(

This is the one I was recently offer for £250, it didn't have a mot but it was very clean. 108k 1.8 LX with a boot. He's looking for offers of around £500 for it now he's done the few odd jobs on it, those wheels trims need sacking off though.

That's a sexy mofo.

I like Mondeos. They still look sort of newish, but loads of glass and they're super comfy to drive without being all bargy-wallowy.

I know of an L reg Mondeo 1.8. been stood a while, but its available for scrap money. yes £80. burgundy would polish up well. In Leominster if anyone is interested I can pass on the owner`s number

Black bumper tops are the new dangly mirrors.

WOOD.

That L reg one is bloody brilliant. Booted Mondy = good.

If the one in Leominster was the same blue as Triggers friends then I would probably be writing a for sale thread about now.  The first car I drove on the road was an N reg Mondeo Verona 1.8 in juice green and I'm feeling like a repeat performance is in order.

Smart looking car, reg is a Glasgow one local to me, do the number plates say "Wylies Glasgow" on the bottom?

Yes it does!

Ha. I had exactly the same yesterday PBK.

I have actually found a V70 I want, it's a little more than I want to pay for a P reg.

It's in Sheffield, but that's no biggie with megabus to hand.

Called the other half to have a butchers at the pics yesterday.

Me. 'What do you think of that?'

She. 'It's ok'.

Me 'We ok putting fifty quid towards it?'.

She 'Yeah'.

Me. 'Shall we go and get it Saturday then?'

She. 'Where is it?'

Me. 'Sheffield'.

She. 'We've got the boys (grandsons) on Saturday, anyway, why do you want to sell your car?'

Me. 'Because I want another one like I used to have, remember, the dark blue one we took to the Isle of Wight, I shouldn't have sold it really, I miss it and want another one'.

At this point she became very unhappy and walked off.

I'll take that as a no then.

I don't have to put up with such conversations these days - my better half knows that even if she disagrees with something I will continue to do it anyway, so she keeps her nose out. It also means that the 'car fund' is totally mine and nothing to do with her!

^^ this applies to a degree but I was caught red handed. Maybe it's a Sunday thing.

My Mrs doesn't care. I tell her when I've bought something. It's never much money and she pays more for shoes.

Plus, she doesn't pay me for the fuel, tax, MOT or insurance. So..........

Posted

I find it easier to seek forgiveness afterwards than to ask for permission beforehand...

This is fucking racist! I've enquired on Ovalchat and it turns out that Mk1 1600 Mondeos are banned!

This is fucking racist! I've enquired on Ovalchat and it turns out that Mk1 1600 Mondeos are banned!

Why?

Posted

They tend not to allow big cars with small engines in the under 1600cc classes. I think all RWD cars that aren't Sierras are banned too.

Posted

I think a lot of the reason Mondeos are banned is that the shell, particularly the front is very stiff, therefore a bang against another car particularly an older car is a game over for the other party. For this reason everyone started using them.
