Fuck a duck, that looks rougher than my arse. The roof looks well kippered.

I'll let Richard know about it, hes rebuilding a Mk 1 and it might yield some bits.

Wiper motor and arm could be of interest to me for the Xantia.

Bloody hell! Another one! I think that means there are four known in the UK now. Would be nice if someone can save it. Seriously uncommon.

You going for a single conversion? Dont forget the ZX

Front wings and bumper (and indicators) for a certain bluish BX would be nice.

I am and I hadn't.

Why would you want to do this?! Single wipers are rubbish. It's one reason I prefer the XM to the BX. Also worth noting that most Citroen single wiper units will be horribly worn when second-hand. My Mk1 BX could do a pretty good job of wiping the scuttle on both sides if it rained sufficiently!

Whatchoo talkin bout foo?  Single wipers are for winners!  I loved the wiper on the BX, one of the best I've ever had on a car.  Twin wipers always leave that irritating dribble down the middle.  Not forgetting single wiper cars only pay half as much for wiper blades!

Meh. Horses for courses. I did a single wiper conversion on a Mk 2 Fiesta with the wiper assy from an Uno.

Looked cool, didnt quite fit properly so did a passable job of wiping the scuttle as well. but you know, it looked good.

Horsesheeet Bro! Only stupidly designed twin wipers leave that irritating dribble down the middle. Oh. You own a Xantia don't you?

I just found that single wipers never clear the bit of windscreen right in front of my face very well. Same as LHD wipers on RHD cars. (Dolomites, GSs, Marinas etc).

Single wiper on the Robin cleared my side of the screen perfect, passenger couldn't see for shit but oh well

Posted

Clap Hands style wipers - they are nearly always crap on UK cars as they are nearly always set up for the LHD market so the wiper on the (UK) drivers side never wipes to the edge of the screen properly. I had a look at the ones on the C8 to see if I could reverse the priority of the wipers but in a word no, its not possible not without a metric shitload of faffing then trying to get the wiper arms bent to fit.

My dream is a single pantograph wiper on the BX. I'm just weird wanting over complication for little return.

Posted

That would probably break DW because he LOVES pantographs and HATES single wipers.

Posted

It would involve moving the motor/spindle to one side a bit but it's achievable!

Posted

The 300E has a very effective single pantographic wiper.  If only the rest of the fecker would run.

I've got a single wiper on the Merc. It does a good job and I like it.

Andy - Do you not need the bonnet off the scrappy BX too? I thought yours was a sort of darker light Blue, or was that the wings?

Posted

Intermittent setting still dodgy though is it?

About six years ago I would have had the front wing off that CF.  Oh well, too late.

If nobody else wants it can I have the bonking bunnies badge please? Im not right far from Blackburn myself down the M65

Colour is a variable on my astate. So is shit paint jobs done in the dark and runs in paint.

The Shaguar and Meg the Visa both have single wipers. As long as I can see out of the window for the most part I am happy with single or double, never really thought about it before.

However as Volksy is probably experiencing as we speak, the single wiper on the Shag is in desperate need of replacement.

The single wiper of the C15 Visa van works very well. It helps that the screen is trapezoid shaped (or whatever shape it is)
