Range Rover TD6 towing 20 mpg, Classic 3.5 V8 14 mpg!

Not so, according to Mrs 6C!

My modernz Disco manages about 24 mpgs when towing. Not that you'd notice the 3 tonne trailer is there...

I'd be putting the Alfa Giulietta on the restoration list before another Visa! Does the Alfa have four wheels again yet?

New tyre is on the rim but not fitted to the car yet.

I would say tomorrow as Quicksilver is offering to help put the replacement Magneto back on Tiddly truck and see if we can start it, but the weather forecast is not good for a day of playing cars.

I have towed heavy with a Disco 4 and was very impressed, not towing it showed 30 mpg when my Range Rover TD6 would have done 22 mpg with less grunt.

Mrs 6C is volunteering to help with more apple days this weekend and needed the C15 van, but the exhaust is broken and is not due to be fixed until Tuesday. I have got out from storage our Volvo 740GLE Auto. It has been away all summer and started easily with the jump pack, so a quick charge and it is ready for action!

Great! Forgot about this 740; I thought it was a saloon ( perhaps confusing it with one you own that's a none starter, beached on a relative's drive in Wales I seem to remember?)

That is another Estate we bought in 2004.

That does not sound metric to me. Where are you, how much do you want? please PM me.

Sorry 6C - Meant to reply, but naffed off for a long weekend in that there London - I'm just outside of Dublin... But I was kind of hoping to use them on my LNA, if I can't lay my hands on a reasonably priced set of Amils.

That said, if they are the final piece of the puzzle and unavailable elsewhere, I'd rather see them reunited with the GT, so give me a shout if that becomes the case.

I have a Mechanic coming to look at the Visa GT tomorrow and I hope to know more after that.

I now have a radiator for my LNA which I hope will be fitted tomorrow and maybe the car can be driven in our field!

The day did not go quite to plan

C15 Exhaust fitted – check

LNA radiator fitted – X

Visa GT check over – X

This was because my mechanic had to go off to rescue a lady in distress. We are going to try again in the morning.

I did collect my Visa Twin pot with a fresh MOT today though.

I have also been told my 1984 MG Metro needs a new air valve, can anybody help by giving it its correct name so I can search for the part?

It just draws in fresh air. The MG engine as C1am says would run-on after the ignition was switched off, and this valve allows fresh air to get into the engine rather than fuel mixture.

It pissed me off on my MG- I've never had an A-series Metro that wouldn't start on the first TDC except for the MG.

Thanks, at least I now know what I was shown yesterday does.

The garage tell me the car ran rough until they blocked off the pipe to the valve, I think the answer is to try it like that before I spend money on a new valve.

A little more progress with the LNA today but after a couple of hours my Mech announced he had to go to another customer - Outrageous! The radiator is now fitted along with new top and bottom hoses and others hoses reconnected and water/antifreeze does not fall out! We had to borrow the radiator fan switch from the Visa GT as I did not have one. It turns out the electric fan that came with the car is not the original and is too big to fit. I also missing the housing on top of the carburettor that connected to the pipe from the air filter.

I am so disappointed he ran out of time because there was nothing stopping us driving the LNA around the field.

The Visa GT has been checked this morning and the engine is not locked so next week we will try and start it. Another friend had a look under it and is going to try and persuade a friend of his who is an amazing welder to save it, in spite of saying he never works on cars we know if all the planets align......

Whatabout 2cv roof? Am free Sunday.

I have not ordered it because I thought I would garage it over the winter and get a new roof when it comes out in the spring. Now I have lost its storage I don't know where I am.
