DSdriver Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 A live breakdown is always more positive than a negative breakdown. What is a burned out gearbox? Do you mean the clutch?
dollywobbler Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Oh dear. I told you that gearbox didn't sound healthy! Not that I expected it to go kaput quite so dramatically. Sorry it let you down on Visa collection capers.
Six-cylinder Posted July 26, 2017 Author Posted July 26, 2017 What is a burned out gearbox? Do you mean the clutch?I am quoting the AA man. Oh dear. I told you that gearbox didn't sound healthy! Not that I expected it to go kaput quite so dramatically. Sorry it let you down on Visa collection capers. It all started so well, everything seemed to be working properly until I got close to Boston when odd things happened like not changing down leaving a roundabout and then it would be ok again. I am home safe now. What I can't understand is why I could take the first two pictures using the camera phone and unload them and then I took some more, that I can see in the phone but couldn't attach them. dollywobbler Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 What's happening to the customised Visa? It's a friend's car. He was driving merrily along and someone pulled out of a junction straight into the side of him. Gutted. It was such a lovely car. Glad it's going to help others live on though.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Give me the Visa, a few days and a Portapower - that'll be straight again. Fixed worse! Six-cylinder, Dick Cheeseburger and oldcars 3
Six-cylinder Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 Give me the Visa, a few days and a Portapower - that'll be straight again. Fixed worse! It has twisted the A pillar and crushed the sill. I never asked what insurance cat is is because it was always a spares car for me.
Six-cylinder Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 I have just had my AA renewal invitation and it had gone up from £119 to £179! somewhatfoolish 1
oldcars Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Nightmare about the breakdown, but the positive is some great calendar shots for 2018. They_all_do_that_sir 1
Six-cylinder Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 Good new for the BX, Ruffgeezer has found me a heater pipe. Bad news my friend who is helping me with the project is taking his caravan on holiday for 6 week! Coprolalia and Eddie Honda 2
Six-cylinder Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 Last Sunday AnthonyG and I stoked up the boiler in the old oil burner C15 to do a collection, A 33 mile run with speeds upto 70 mph and nothing to report, so once again I have just added it to my notes. I was quite quick to put my name to this so many of you may have missed it but bunglebus offered a fast exciting motorbike Free! http://autoshite.com/topic/28540-official-wantedofferedshitecycle-thread/page-2 post 54 A 1984 Honda Vision 50cc striped for field use seemed perfect for the field of dreams and now I have collected it. I took my first test run and it started easily and travelled 3 yards under it's own power before conking out. bunglebus had warned me of the this and has had to clean the fuel line out in the past. What I need is a kind volunteer on our field open day 12th August to clean it out for me. There is no fuel showing in the filter in spite of topping up the petrol tank. I will buy a new filter to aid the job. Coprolalia, GoGently, Heidel_Kakao and 6 others 9
Six-cylinder Posted July 27, 2017 Author Posted July 27, 2017 is the xantia an auto? Yes, all UK V6 Xantias were Auto.
Six-cylinder Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 Shock news I have parted with a car! Following Nyphur's Micra "failure to proceed", the Octavia has gone off to help out and get him to work. CGSB, Fat_Pirate, egg and 14 others 17

richardmorris Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Yes, all UK V6 Xantias were Auto.I didn't cog it as v6 and at least one is manual now. This is basically the main reason I didn't buy Roger Bradford's old car. That, and it being on lpg which rules out the eurotunnel. Without oil changes the box seems to have a 60k life, with oil changes its Russian roulette really,
richardmorris Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Shock news I have parted with a car! Following Nyphur's Micra "failure to proceed", the Octavia has gone off to help out and get him to work. That photo is never going to be in classic car magazine:-) I must have missed nyphur's micramisshap, but the skoda looks like a bargain.
Six-cylinder Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 It has been a dramatic day for me, for a man who does not sell cars I have a double hole in my drive! I may need alcohol therapy to get over selling two cars in a day! nacho man, purplebargeken, Bucketeer and 13 others 16
phil_lihp Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Since you visited I seem to have lost a yellow ZR! It's ok, it's outside my house now being very yellow. Six-cylinder and The Moog 2

phil_lihp Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Many, many thanks to SixCylinder and Mrs_SixCylinder for picking me up from the station (in a V6 Alfa, no less), giving me a free, exclusive tour of the Field of Dreams and providing a cup of tea, all whilst being thoroughly nice people. A very enjoyable day out, especially when combined with trains that were clean, efficient and on time. The car is great of course, I think I finally have a 100% healthy 1.4 K series after 3 failed attempts. It drives extremely well, didn't use too much fuel and was surprisingly comfortable. I took an alternative, much windier and more entertaining route home avoiding the majority of the A39 North Devon link road and the little MG was in its element. I dare say I could have used less fuel getting home but where's the fun in that? I was shown a lot of very, very nice cars and a few that will be nice again one day but I reckon the orange GS and the white DS were the highlights (MG aside, of course), you both have exceptionally good taste in cars! Bucketeer Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Who are you and what have you done with the real Chris?
GoGently Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Utterly Unbelievable last week somebody tried to steal my Visa !!! FOK Knows whaat they were thinking A narrow get- away Pram I mean car for shooting up back alleys? Nay pun intended The Baarstands broken the back windows & bent the steering wheel along with busting the plastic cowling around it! Car was in Luton surrounded by numerous other cars but the Baarstools singled out the Citroen??? Damn!
Six-cylinder Posted August 9, 2017 Author Posted August 9, 2017 Today's motoring news is my Sovereign S2 has a new MOT, it needed the brakes bled as they were bit soggy. It feels great to drive in spite of the rain. The 735i SE has now gone to have its brakes looked at as it seems to have a sticky calliper. RobT, CGSB and Bucketeer 3
Six-cylinder Posted August 13, 2017 Author Posted August 13, 2017 Sovereign S2 has been out and about this weekend making friends with trains. dollywobbler, catsinthewelder, RobT and 7 others 10
