If it’s leaking , it’s at least got some inside.

This is what the Owd Giffer always said about his sequence of Triumph motorcycles and (once I arrived) Mini vans: "if there's no oil under it, there's no oil in it!"

Unigate floats had one headlamp, Express Dairies had 2. 74/5 is late for one tho.

After the Fiat Seicento failed its MOT on a rust hole under the rear axle I need a patch welded in. Today I have had the rear beam lowered so it is ready for welding. No date yet as to when my welder is available.

Well I think it is good news!

Those who visit the FoD will know we have a 2005  Astra Van 17 CDTI Sportive I was given it because the estimate for getting it an MOT was £700 when at the time you could buy a good running van for £500. A mobile Mech Phil, who does good work for me started looking for a small van for himself and could only find junk. It seems  van prices have rocketed in the nearly 5 years we have had it and today he inspected it and said it it worth saving so I gave it to him.

It feels so good it has another chance to live and wasn't taken away for scrap.

Yep, Phil says he is going to strip the inside and power wash it.

I only have one Fiat and that is now booked for welding next weekend.

Fancy showing your welding bloke the pics of my qq and seeing if he laughs or not? Before I go slapping Fibreglass all over it and it turns out it's a cheap easy job...😂

Hopefully 5 years on the field have been kind to it but it should be OK, he can sink a fair few hundred quid into it and still come out on top at least

Where are the Qq pictures?

Phil can do all the work himself except welding?

Last page or so if it doesn't dump you there with the link.

I'm fairly certain it'll be fibreglassed up and ignored but I'd like some idea of how much it might cost to get welded... More for my own curiosity mostly

I would love to have another shot of it as I have great memories when I had it 12 years ago. It was the first car I bought from Autoshite, direct from Mr Bollox's.

The trouble is I have a queue of 10+ project cars along with the list of cars awaiting lighter repairs.

Driving the car home last time it misfired badly near home and then had a light misfire. I have never seen this before, one of the metal posts inside the distributor cap is loose and rotated! New cap and rotor needed. Anybody seen this before? Also points gap was double what it should have been.

Today Slowsilver and his Mini owning friend have been helping me with my Mini snagging list.

N-S rear indicator not working turned out to be a dirty/loose connection behind the fuel tank. Cleaned and refitted sorted that problem.

Stiff hand brake seems to be the O-S rear quadrant, but will have to wait until we have the car jacked up.

Speedo stopped working, turns out to be a broken cable.

Drivers seat belt not latching properly was simply a clean and lubricate.

The oil drip needs the car to be jacked up running, which was not possible today.

Plugs look great.

Yep, had that on a cap on one of my Estelles - it also destroyed the rotor arm.  Luckily I had the pre-service parts still sitting in the boot so it was a 90 second side of the road fix.  Was an Intermotor branded cap as I recall.
