Six-cylinder Posted November 23, 2017 Author Posted November 23, 2017 This is how mine looked in 1977! Sigmund Fraud, Dick Cheeseburger, Sudsprint and 12 others 15
AnthonyG Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Wow, it really does look one wheel away from the scrapyard in that picture. The pic of your dad, his big hammer and a S type in bits is great. A real period piece from the 1970s!
Zelandeth Posted November 23, 2017 Posted November 23, 2017 Mind if I ask who your auto electrician is? At some point I may run out of patience with the gremlin in the Lada's indicators/dash lighting and throw it at someone else to sort...
Sudsprint Posted November 24, 2017 Posted November 24, 2017 I love, love, LOVE your E-Type. Can't be many Series 1s running around on white/yellow plates. I love it! This is chassis number 60. It has been beautifully restored since this picture was taken, but alas it is back on black plates. Completely agree over the number plates comment. Six cylinder's E Type is simply perfect because it looks just like they all looked when I was growing up. Skizzer 1

The Reverend Bluejeans Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 30 years ago, I was talking to a guy who used to buy and sell cars. In '73 he bought a 2.8 Sovereign with a buggered engine and back then, XJ's were not in breakers. So he bought a very rough flat floor 3.8 E Type Roadster with a honey of an engine, fitted that (a right faff apparently) and chopped the E Type up with a felling axe. "Yeah, I was doing a house extension at the time so I chucked the E Type bits in the skip and covered it with rubble". Dick Cheeseburger, Shep Shepherd and alf892 3

That might be my friends' 3.8 - we were discussing CMC at the NEC (lol) and whilst they've done sterling work, he's not exactly delighted with them as a company.

Skizzer Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Just catching up with this - excellent news about your Gamma! And +1 on the E-type being spot on and not over-restored for a change. A few days ago when the Auto electrician was here this happened to the sky!Yup, the sky sometimes catches fire when I start tinkering with auto electrics too. Nothing to claim, the house is for sale so new neighbours on there way! Persuade the electrician to move in? Six-cylinder and richardmorris 2
Six-cylinder Posted November 26, 2017 Author Posted November 26, 2017 I like the idea of the Auto electrician living next door but know he already has a nice place to live. So who wants to live next door to me, parking for 6 cars! chaseracer, Dirk Diggler, Shep Shepherd and 2 others 5
Heidel_Kakao Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 I would love to be your neigbour but I have an inkling that the asking price would be beyond my means Buy it yourself for the extra parking spaces?
SiC Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Under offer now unfortunately. Actually not as expensive as I would have thought. Is the "part-owned" 0.3 acre paddock, the field of dreams?

SiC Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 We thought it was quite cheap. No our field of dreams is separate.Always hard to tell from photos, but is it in need of modernisation? Are you not tempted to buy it, so you can knock through and make for a very large single property? My current place is detached and I have to admit, having that has spoilt me and I wouldn't consider going semi again. The neighbours are annoying enough as it is, without hearing them banging around. alf892 and Dick Cheeseburger 2

It is pretty good maybe decoration. Adding to my house just does not stack up.

Six-cylinder Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 I like the shape of these ones. How horrific are they in diseasal form? Sent from my SM-A510F using Tapatalk There is more to the C320CDi story, it belongs to a friends wife who's children have grown up and wanted to change from this sensible saloon to a SLK! SLK is bought and my friend dose not have room or inclination to store/sell it so it has come to me. The plan is to sell it and in the mean time I get to use it. I have had my first drive with it today just a few local errands, it has terrific punch just squeeze and go, 0-60 book time is 6.7 secs. The engine does not have the character of the Alfa V6 petrol but does a good job. Brodders 1
Six-cylinder Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Is that merc the newest thing you've owned? At the moment the 320CDi is the newest car of the household. I have had lots of brand new company cars 1980s and 1990s, the newest car I have bought with my own money was a 2008 Fiat 500 diesel Sport that was 10 months and 8,000 miles old. SiC 1
