Pride Of Longbridge 2015- PIX P5

Can't bothered to put up the anal moaning that it's dirty or one of the indicators is slightly squonky, which is what happend last time I took it to an event. I KNOW. I DRIVE THE BLOODY THING.

I'm with ya, m8. My cantbearsedness with car shows is an overwhelming one to begin with, but at the last event I took my P6 to,

I was told, it was responsible for Rover's collapse, despite the excellent Chrysler engine it has. Plus, I'm on call this weekend.

Why do folk get uspet about stuff they 'are told' at car shows? if someone told me my car was responsible for this that and the other i wouldnt give a fuck!!! It doesnt matter, its only a hobby and one which has a healthy proportion of complete mentals who are into it. I would enjoy hearing that sort of waffle and maybe keep a record of some of the best 'pub knowledge' i'd been given at these places.

I'm going to try and not go. One again I'm relegated down to 1 vehicle which isn't mine. This seems to be a repeat of a few years ago when this happened. I'm sure I'll be hounded by a few people asking me to go down/why I'm not there so I'll leave it and see what Saturday brings.

This afternoon I have been to collect my borrowed steed for the event so barring flood, famine or fire I should be there. It is this MG TF Cool Blue that belongs to my friend who is bringing his red MG Metro Turbo.

Call it Cool Blue all you like, it's clearly Silver.

we cannot go, as it is Big Mini day at Lincoln on Sunday and i need to go home at sometime!!

and this inspite of the Rover 75 been in fine fettle, the Mini having a spankin' new MOT and the Metro's got new and fully functional brakes.

I have a fine selection of BL/Rover/Leyland/Whatever vehicles that I would love to attend in...

...and none of them are in a fit state or reliable enough to make the 400 mile round trip.

I'm living the Longbridge dream, not you.

If you go, and I go, look out for us :) You know what my car looks like and you know what I look like! Come and say hi mate.

EDIT: How did I quote you twice? That's LEVEL 12 SPASTIC.

I cannot understand why people think this is a concourse event , could not be more wrong ,very friendly and informal ( Unlike that horrid event in Peterborough)  ,This is the show for people who do not do Car shows , I have taken My Rover 25 (Brian) twice and that is My Dailey and not concourse ,I have been informed that there will be 3 Rover 25 GTi's there ,I am taking my new Chod,Will be reveled on Sat

I used to like the Peterborough show. Didn't even know there was a showy bit!

I took a Rover 800 Vitesse in shitbox condition to BL day a few years back and got quite a lot of positive interest, was surprised actually so just turn up in whatever you've got. I'll be at PoL in the Metro, or if feeling lazy the 75.

I don't get to hear what the nutters say about the Allegro at shows as I'm usually off checking out everyone else's piles of shite.

The Rover 220 has hurriedly had a bucket of water chucked over it, but thats about as far as I got time wise.  The weather looks decent- supposed to be dry and sunny again tomoz.

Not had time to get the Metro from its lockup, so I'll be in the 75. I'll keep an eye out for six cylinder's MG TF and the 220 as would rather park with you lads than get herded into a field with myriad other 75s

I would have liked to come along for a look, 'specially since the weather looks like it's going to be half decent, but I'm working tomorrow morning, plus the Rover is currently suffering from a dodgy starter and the MGB is struggling to hit 20mpg on a run at the moment so Norfolk to Brum and back would nearly bankrupt me.

It seems I'm going after 'er indoors talked me into it...

Arse, I have work today. Also the Somerset has been in the garage for the last week awaiting parts, the Maestro is abandoned on my grandparents drive (won't start/runs badly - faulty autochoke), and the A35 is in a lockup 75 miles away. Leaving a Luton product as my only usable car!

6° C, not enough for me to spend an hour on the motorway topless!

Collected a car last night for work. Quite knackered as a result.

Will sit today out as selected car does 18mpg and my colleague Jozza is covering the event for le paper anyway.

Looking at doing the Sandbach Transport Festival if anyone fancies it tomorrow?

If someone wants to try and sell me on the idea of me turning up in the least Longbridge vehicle ever, now's the time.

Due to the aunt not having any electricity I suppose I'd better get on with sorting that out. I'M OOT.

What a fabulous day. Before I begin, most of my photos can be found here: https://twitter.com/dollywobbler

Highlights of the day.

Being chauffered through Wales in an Austin 3-Litre.

I took over driving duty and drove all the way home too. Smashing. Here's a traffic jam trying to get into the event at 9:50am this morning.

Good to meet Anthony G, Six-Cylinder, Partridge, Captain Slow and V8 Scania. Sorry I missed any others. It was a bloody big event.

Got in a quick visit on my way home and had a catchup with RobT, AnthonyG and sixcylinder whilst admiring the dents in Rob's 75, it was past 3:30PM by then though so a lot of folk had already finished for the day.  Looked even bigger than last year though, still lots of nice motors to see ranging from immaculate old classics to nicely shabby and well-used Metros and Montegos, weather was perfect too.

A cracking day out. I spent much of it with brookjm as we both arrived at the same time, and had great fun talking shite. I only met Anthony, sixcylinder and Phil later on but also managed to chat to Craig for a bit with his Inca Yellow Allegro 'shooting break'.

I didn't take many pics but got my 75 next to this mega early S plate one, as featured in Autocar back in 1998 (there was a copy of the mag on his dash to prove it).

I also papped DNJs Peugeot 604 on the way out, which I'd seen parked up on the way in. He cruised past me on the M40 on his way home, so if you're reading this Phil that was me giving you the thumbs up!

A staggering turn-out of shite for this today, brilliant really.

We also scored with the weather, it reminded me of the first event 10 years ago.

Had a great visit, unbeknown to us both, having set off from opposite ends of the country and random times, 2 cars ahead was Rob in his 75. Perfect weather and lots of shite talking/ spotting. Had to leave earlier than I wanted ( but not before getting the obligatory Rover by the factory gates shot) as I had to point the 220 Scotland-wards. Actually as I was snapping the gates a chap with a big camera told be that this car was there last year (rob had taken it) and wasn't this the Autoshite bike? I'll put up a few pics when I get back.

Edit- Sorry I didn't bump into you holbeck, just on the left of shot is the Robt 75.

Yes I took it last year, looks rather better this time around! Shame I missed you but I'm sure it'll be there again next year with someone!

Great day helped by lovely weather, lots of interesting cars, particularly vintage Oztins, ADO16s and good condition Maestro/Montegos (which have been thin on the ground in previous years) and meeting shiters.

Partridge drove up and parked just in front of me and Six Cylinder as we were chatting, I was keeping an eye out for a OG plate 800 but seeing as he was with a lady, we didn't want to shout 'are you on Autoshite?' It was very smart, I don't know what you were worried about MrP!

Near the end of the day there was a Brucie bonus in bagging four nice Dinky cars for £20, and RobT and Phil turning up. An impressive range of giffer dents in Rob's 75😀
