ultra cheap shite needed for a month.

My XM is having a bit of surgery and I expect it to be out of action for a month or so, I need a stopgap motor, something I can use for that month and bin off. I can only afford £100 or so. Close to Staffordshire would be a boon too.

Anything out there?

Fill in the Jersey log book with your details and send it back to Jersey.....it'll take about that long before you get a certificate of export so that you can register it! Run it on Jersey plates for a month, then bridge it!

If you don't have any luck buying a car then I could lend you one for a month. This morning I won a C15 van on ebay which is in Stafford, maybe you could collect that for me and I will fetch it in a months time?

Ah, wondered if anyone on here had got that van.......If you stuck for storage then I could park it for a month or so...

Sounds like an idea, Has it MOT?

The C15 I mean..

Or just run it on the foreign plates, there's a channel island registered van in my area that's been here for what I can only guess is longer than it really should have been by now.

If the above falls through you can borrow one of my cars, Tim. It'll probably be the Saab if it's any good? Taxed and tested so you'll just need to add it to your database.

Cheers Cav, I'll let you know what happens. "Cavcraft, drive crappy"

Yes MOT to 14th Aug 2015, I will pay for the van, Insure it for myself, buy the tax and pay for parts if necessary to improve it. I can't easily add you to my insurance so you would need to arrange your own or risk it third party if you have that cover and worst ways if you smashed it up I would want the £290 I paid for it. That leaves you to use the van for a month report any problems and try to get them fixed for me economically local to you.

I will start a buying thread separately not to fill up yours.

Woo. What a kind offer. I can collect Saturday afternoon if that's any good? There's a white C15 in the local breakers with mint rear doors, towbar, mint vinyl seats and single spoke steering wheel I can raid for parts too.

It is with French Car Parts Unit A Ladford Field Ind Estate, ST18 9QE. I have asked for opening hours but no reply yet. My only worry is it is not taxed and has been untaxes since Aug, I don't want either of us to get fined for no tax.

Good luck with the van.

On the Jersey plates thing, my mate lives on Jersey and his Dad has run a Jersey plated car around the UK for about 5 years with no issues.   Only problem is he now wants to sell it, without importing to the UK it can only be sold in Jersey and has 100k miles as opposed to the 20k that most Jersey cars have.

French Car Parts opening hours show on Yell site as 8am to 6pm 7 days a week.

I'm not happy about those wheels,

tell 6 cyl you'll only have it if he gives you money or sweets or something as well.

They are Peugoet wheels cover I think, I agree they don't suit it but money off or sweets!

If the above offer(s) fall through, you may be able to lend my V70.

Just throw it on your insurance, and return it with fuel.

Can lend the MX-3 if you get stuck. Can bring to yours if you want to dump a' t'station to get back to mancland

Top bombing! These used to be be all over e bay, I recon survivors will start to dry up pretty soon as even the latest I've seen (54 plate) are not that young anymore.

EDIT there's more left than I thought

It sounds like you now have more choice than Motorpoint for temp wheels, but just in case you're welcome to borrow the MGF for a bit

Cheers 6 cyl!

This is all sorted now guys, I'm getting it tomorrow!

I'm amazed at the response, obv the C15 is closest but if I had all the motors on offer lined up, I'd deffo jump in the C15. My dad had a long line of them as works vans and I have many happy* memories of sitting in the back with my brother going on holiday to Wales. I also learned to drive in an empty coach park in a scrap works C15 when I was 15.
