Can't wait to go for another razz around the backroads at the weekend. There's still a few electrical issues to sort out, the wipers have stopped working again so as long as it doesn't rain I can drive it!

It torments me not at all. The lack of footage of early Saab headlamp wipers in action does though.

I have to echo thoughts about 99 vs 900. The 99 is just lovely. I can't see how a 900 could compare, even if the headlamp wipers do work.

I prefer the styling and reliability* of 80's cars, I prefer the look of the 900 if I'm honest but the 99 is growing on me more and more. I took it for a spin earlier and fuck, it sounds really nice when I'm flooring it.

Here's some pics!

I'd keep the 99 too. The later 900's are nice cars but the old 99 just has way more character and retro class!

Personally I prefer the 900,  the 99, particularly the 4 door, looks a bit awkward to me.

The 900 is really just a stretched 99. When Saab needed a bigger safer model for the US market it was easier to improve an existing design. Most of the parts will swap.

How have I missed this? That's a flaming ace motor, really unusual nowadays. Ill be watching those videos when I get home!

99 is gr99.

900 is boring by comparison.

Keep the 99 - you're doing better.

I liked the 99!!!! Although I wouldn't fancy an automatic one. That lime green is the best colour of all time though

I saw it for sale on rr but then I think you decided to keep when it got it's mot.

I had pretty much wanted to swap it for a good while, I decided to not sell it as who in their right mind would buy a car that's been off the road for 20 years with no mot for £500? I thought I'd be as well selling it nearer the summer with an mot and everything sorted and running nicely but had been hoping to swap for the 900 whether I got it mot or not.

Yes the 99 was cooler and rarer but for some reason I like the look of a 900 more. I was also hoping an 80's saab would be more usable and reliable.

The 99 does run quite well, it was surprisingly quick when I floored it along a country road getting it over 80mph and as much as I enjoy the lazy driving style of an automatic gearbox I'd still prefer a manual.

Anyone have any experience of the 2l non turbo? is it shit? have I set myself up for misery and disappointment?

Is it carburetted or injected? I had a 1988 SAAB 900i 8v for a while, it was good to drive but the Lucas FI was a bit erratic.

Think there's a few different engine management options on these, a 2.0 8v injection ought to be pretty decent I reckon, defo better than a shitty stromberg carb anyway
