Have those seats got built in Tena lady pads?

I'm not keen on Merc's new styling direction. The new C Class coupe looks particularly naff, like a Laguna Coupe with all the proportions skew-wiff, which is a shame because the model it replaced (in fact all the derivatives of the last generation of C Class) was a looker.

Is it only me, or do most newfangled cars look messy?

I mean, whether it's outside, or inside, they look to me like a Kindergarten at 3pm.

it's not just you, they seem to have swage lines here there and everywhere. I thinks it's an infliction caused by CAD.

Do you know, I've been unable to put my finger on what it is that bugs me about the styling on newer cars but 'messy' is what it is.  They're not fussy, not in the way something like a blinged up 70s Morris is with its picnic tables and pre-war grille, they're actually messy.  Like someone couldn't colour inside the lines and then tried to hide it by making the ink lines thicker.

Also, is it only me, or do most newfangled cars driving in front of me look like they are in the process of shitting a smaller car?

I mean, it must be me. Millions of car buyers evidently want their cars to look like this, say the car manufacturers.

From that rear 3/4 view, those front seats of that S-Class* look like deflated Storm Troopers. By the way, I don't see that as a good thing. What I do smirk at though on moderns is all the unintentional little funny faces they invariably make by using large circular vents and mouth shaped things beneath them.

*There's clearly no longer any class present in this stuff. Less is more Mercedes, less is more.

Shitting out another car you say.

The i8 is forcing out a 911.

We got the Ford Cortina in saloon and estate version, a noble steed to be sure, but Europe got the Ford Taunus coupé which we weren't allowed. Blatant favouritism. I was surprised when I found out about these and was reminded when seeing the Opels above, which are also well lush and not UK market.

I don't feel so bad about not knowing they existed, now it appears they mostly didn't!

That Diplomat B seems to be homemade ,possibly using a Rekord/ Commodore roof and apparently it's a V12.

Can't find much in English about it,if only we had a resident translator. image.jpg

The Fiat 124 Spider is available in the UK pretty soon - in a  few years I might get one, they look ace.

Here's a Mahindra Scorpion.

Never officially sold here but Arnold Shark imported a load from Ireland (I think?) and sold them through their dealers. As such, they're not unusual to spot in Scotland, usually piloted by giffers.

I see them occasionally down here in Manchester. There's even one being used as a minicab.

Yeah fiat 124=mazda mx5

I think Fiat ones have some sort of TwinAir engine, and handle a bit differently?

Midi vans were everywhere around here for a while.

You couldn't find a more Japanese van,

Cab forward flatfront design with the engine between the seats, column gear change, 2 sliding doors and a tailgate, made in Luton... oh!

See also Bedford Rascal.
