cros Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I keep seeing some kind of booted Clio on Spanish roads but can't find any pictures. I've also seen a few Linea's which look even worse in the flesh.
cros Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 There's another booted Regie then, maybe its called silver, though at my age who knows if I've got it right.
Brodders Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I know I may be going against the grain here, but I actually quite like some of these small saloons. They are slightly more interesting to look at than the hatchbacks they are based on (maybe because we never see them here) and they remind me of shite such as the Vauxhall Belmont and Ford Orion which used to be around.
vulgalour Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I see these new car posts and I think "hmm, that looks like a VW" or in the case of the Citroen "hmm, that looks like a BMW" so I'm very confused that the VW Ameo looks like it was made in India by Russians for the Chinese market.
quicksilver Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Saw this today and had no idea what it was. It's a Neckar Fiat Weinsberg, like a Fiat 500 with knobs on. anonymous user, Aston Martin, LC Torana and 3 others 6
17-Coffees Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 I've known about the South African market Mini Mk3 for a while, essentially a Wolseley Hornet/ Riley Elf with the mini front end. (Personally, would love one.) But never knew about the Wolseley 1000, which is another South African market car. Essentially just a Mini with the Wolseley Hornet front end...Would also love one of these now! cros, MarvinsMom, Junkman and 7 others 10

Junkman Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Saw this today and had no idea what it was. It's a Neckar Fiat Weinsberg, like a Fiat 500 with knobs on. ONW122B.jpg If it is produced after 1957, which it is, it's a Neckar Weinsberg 500 (without any 'Fiat' in its name). From 1929 - 1957, Fiats produced under licence in Germany were called NSU-Fiat, because they were built in a factory in Heilbronn, which had been purchased from NSU. After 1957, they were renamed Neckar, because NSU was meanwhile producing cars themselvesand thus disputed the use of their name by a Fiat licencee, which they had formerly not objected, since they only produced motorcycles. Fiats (or rather Neckars), were built there until 1971, when all production of German built Fiats stopped, because Fiat refused to sellthe licences of the new Fiats 124, 125 and 128 to Neckar. The following Fiat derivatives were built by Neckar: Model - Variant of Weinsberg - Fiat 500 Jagst - Fiat 600 Europa - Fiat 1100 1100 Millecento - Fiat 1100R Panorama - Autobianchi Bianchina Adria - Fiat 850 Mistral - Fiat 1300/1500 Riviera - Fiat 600 cros, Vin, Asimo and 6 others 9

r.welfare Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I'm not keen on Merc's new styling direction. The new C Class coupe looks particularly naff, like a Laguna Coupe with all the proportions skew-wiff, which is a shame because the model it replaced (in fact all the derivatives of the last generation of C Class) was a looker. Junkman Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Is it only me, or do most newfangled cars look messy?I mean, whether it's outside, or inside, they look to me like a Kindergarten at 3pm. vulgalour, Lacquer Peel, spartacus and 6 others 9

vulgalour Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Do you know, I've been unable to put my finger on what it is that bugs me about the styling on newer cars but 'messy' is what it is. They're not fussy, not in the way something like a blinged up 70s Morris is with its picnic tables and pre-war grille, they're actually messy. Like someone couldn't colour inside the lines and then tried to hide it by making the ink lines thicker. anonymous user, Richard, LC Torana and 2 others 5
Junkman Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Also, is it only me, or do most newfangled cars driving in front of me look like they are in the process of shitting a smaller car?I mean, it must be me. Millions of car buyers evidently want their cars to look like this, say the car manufacturers. AMC Rebel and Lacquer Peel 2
Jon Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 From that rear 3/4 view, those front seats of that S-Class* look like deflated Storm Troopers. By the way, I don't see that as a good thing. What I do smirk at though on moderns is all the unintentional little funny faces they invariably make by using large circular vents and mouth shaped things beneath them. *There's clearly no longer any class present in this stuff. Less is more Mercedes, less is more. Laseraligningfoofooflanges and Junkman 2

mikebee Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 We got the Ford Cortina in saloon and estate version, a noble steed to be sure, but Europe got the Ford Taunus coupé which we weren't allowed. Blatant favouritism. I was surprised when I found out about these and was reminded when seeing the Opels above, which are also well lush and not UK market.

Asimo Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Saw one of these the other day, it's called a 124!
AMC Rebel Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Taunus.had a 2.3 V6 later.very nice. We had that in Cortinas here, briefly.
JeeExEll Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I don't feel so bad about not knowing they existed, now it appears they mostly didn't!That Diplomat B seems to be homemade ,possibly using a Rekord/ Commodore roof and apparently it's a V12.Can't find much in English about it,if only we had a resident translator. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpgFantastic Opel post there, made my day.
Ghosty Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 The Fiat 124 Spider is available in the UK pretty soon - in a few years I might get one, they look ace. Here's a Mahindra Scorpion.
anonymous user Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 I saw one of those new "124" Spiders on trade plates, this morning. I believe they are based on the MX5
