Negative Creep
And everything in the 1960s looked pretty similar. Every generation complains that some other generation of cars all look the same. dollywobbler
Sana and ZX, for sure. Renault 19 though? Not really. That's a step-back hatch like an Escort or Xantia.

PhilA
To me these look sorta similar, I think it's mostly the grille (Obviously not doing the whole Bentley-looks-like-a-Chrysler thing) And for Vulg: Touche' on the Moggy- brickwall

Uncle Jimmy
I've read the Volvo Amazon is a rip off of the Chevrolet Bel Air. It does look like the famous '56 model but I think the Amazon appeared in '56 so it must be accidental unless there was a Swedish spy ring in Detroit. Uncle Jimmy
Simca must have cribbed from Renault when the 1000 came out in '62, the R8 debuted in '61. Yet Simca omitted the all round disc brakes that made the R8 a trailblazer.

Possibly, but I think Volvo styling just aped contemporary US thinking due to a close cultural link between the two countries. Or something. Anyway check these two out, one is only a prototype though (think it still exists in their museum) VOLVO 444 1946 FORD VOLVO PHILIP KAISER MANHATTAN Junkman and Uncle Jimmy

As for more modern stuff what about the Viva HB and Escort Mk1 (and any other coke bottle influenced design)?

Richard
That's the trend nowadays though. They used to completely change the look of what was basically exactly the same car (Mk1-2 Escort, Mk1-2 and Mk3-4 Cortina etc.) but now they tend to preserve the look while changing everything else.
