Looking forward to having this share garage space with my Capri!

Nice.

Manta AND Capri, one way to avoid all those pointless "which is best, Manta or Capri" arguments.

That Manta is class.

Arse. .....be looking for a decent Manta for a while now

As soon as I give up trying to find a good 1 within my budget and agree to buy something totally different,2 reasonable coupe's appear on the owners club......

This 1 looks good. White seems to suite the hatch much better than the coupe

Good choice, I loved my manta it was a silver berlinetta hatch, had it as I was looking for a Capri but all the ones around were rotters, i would love to make a cross breed Capri/manta basically the manta torque tube rear end with Capri macpherson struts up front, maybe graft the manta nose onto the Capri as the back end of a Capri is prettier than a manta hatch, that would upset 2 groups of purists at one time

Nice one. +1 on looking forward to the ultimate 80s coupe Giant Test report.

All you need now is a Mk2 Scirocco GTX to complete the set...

You've got all bases covered. I know you're in New Zealand but in Australia is owning both a Ford and GM product not punishable by death?

I hope it isn't here, because my days are numbered if so!

I take it it is the 2.0 injection and not the wheezy carb 1.8?

I thought the coupe manta was a stunner.

Funnily enough, I used to own a GTX back in Scotland - great car!

Can you see a picture emerging - I might possibly be stuck in the 80's!

I believe that is correct. Fair to say, it used to be pretty tribal. However, with the demise of the Australian motor industry, I don't think it is quite as pronounced these days

Yip, 2.0 litre. I bought it sight unseen so have never actually driven a Manta before!

Reckon a Fuego GTX as well for the full period effect. There are still some nice ones here which occasionally come up for sale!

Fuego wasn't as nice to drive, it felt slouchy and a but slow. Not driven a Manta or a Capri but have driven an Ascona. I've left it too late to own either.

Which is best then? A Manta 2.0i GTE or Capri 2.0i Laser?

Glad you bit the bullet and got it bought. If it's going to cost megabucks to bring up north and a plane and ferry ticket and fuel would be cheaper, I'll drive it up for you! Any excuse to take a trip back to the south island.

Station The Capri laser or any 2.0 Capri were not injection from the factory
