28th August, Auction of barn stored shite in need of restoration.  No detail of what shite is on offer but it could make for an interesting day out.

I may head over for this one.

Hmm, Nescliffe isn't that far from here....

Thats a shame. Looks like they will publish a catalogue closer to the sale date.

My local auction place back in Aberdeen has online bidding, so you can see photos of the stuff on offer. Looks like these guys dont have that.

Shame there are no details of the cars, could be some GR9 stuff there.......On the other hand there could be a load of dusty MGB's and Midgets.

There's a catalogue on there now with some pictures and that... doesn't look like there's much worth saving.

Dustpan and brush job, most of it. I would expect the Mini van to fetch about £111,971+VAT though as some daft twat will pay through the roof for it. Me? I want that caravan.

Bugger, tis a barn full of rust. Won't be heading over for this one!

They're nothing but dust dust held together with shit and paint. Good luck on trying to move em

I'd be interested to see what sort of prices these achieve. There's a few there that will almost certainly get saved, all the Jags, the Triumph Roadster, Austin A35 and Mini van I reckon. Hopefully the Prefect and A40 van/countryman will get saved as both look in quite decent nick. Such a shame the storage of these was so poor, they've really suffered due to that barn being so damp.

I notice an Austin Atlantic listed, no pictures or details though. 1951 could be either a saloon or convertible - would love to see some pictures of that.

This is a prime example of why a) I'm not allowed to go to auctions and B) I'm not allowed to take any money to auctions and c) if I manage to circumvent A and B somehow, my arms get gaffer taped to my sides.

There's something familiar about some of these, I wonder if some came from the clearance of the scrapyard at Symonds Yat. The Devon Countryman is the twin of the one that used to look out from the hill over the dual carriageway.

Aye no mot and free tax. One day insurance policy and drive home.

Will these not mainly fall victim to plate rapists? Given they don't need mot'd is it just a case of them immediately stealing the plate and throwing the rest away?

I am pretty sure if you want to remove the plate then you do have to mot them, this may save some of them at as long as its not garage owners that buy them.

The auctioneers sometimes remember to post up the results, so we may be able to see what prices are made...

This, and also most of these cars have been off the road so long it would be a ballache to get the numbers reallocated to them, as there's no V5 in most cases. Also the bottom has fallen out of the numberplate market in the last few years, which is excellent.

I am still thinking about going to this, is anyone else actually going ? I fancy a P5 Rover and although that one looks rough as, it might be worth a punt if cheap enough. I have been to their auctions before and it is mostly farmers so prices could be sensible

It's 30 years too late for these cars. I think all of us in this thread have realised it's a no-go. Everything will be seized up, and the rust (as if it wasn't bad enough) will be 10 times worse than it looks. It's a bad do, but nothing can be done.

That said, the Javelin and Pontiac sound interesting...

If I had money I'd be there and I'd buy one of them.  But then I'm a moron.

The A40 van is on Ebay now, up to a grand last time I looked. That was a bargain for the dealer who bought it, I think it only went for £400 or so. The Atlantic was also on Ebay a couple of days after the auction, up for £3.5k, paid £2k. A few guys in the club were talking about that and the consensus was that it was well overpriced. Surprisingly, it does appear to have sold.

Interesting to hear the items have more onward value.

I love going auctions and watching people getting consumed in the bidding frenzy, something that started as a bargain soon isn't when you add the buyers premium... Yup, I made that mistake before now!
