Can we have a pic of the interior? I remember these having weird almost-Citroen stalk things.

epic work! its like being back at school (the Jannie had one)

Snap! My middle school's Janitor had a Sequin Blue saloon, narrowly beaten into 2nd place on my shortlist of "trickest staff car" at the time, by Music teacher Mr Durrant's Montelimar Green GS.

iirc 12v gave a decent compromise between 16 efficiency and 8v flexibility

When I was 19 a mate told me he had got a wicked new car, leather the lot. Dirt cheap and all. I was proper jealous till he turned up in a Proton.

How we laughed as I burnt him in my shonky Renault 9...petrol tank leaking.

Believe it or not is one of my dream cars from my teenage years... I remember being 14 and looking in the yellow paper mainly for motocross bikes but I'd always check the car ads and it would be guaranteed I would find a proton for £300. I've actually got 3 of the cars I lusted over as a teenager, I just need a Lada Riva to complete the fleet.

There's also a Chris Goffey road test on YouTube for added shite points.

Here you go. Check out the fantastic tank top.

Japanese Technology. Malaysian Style.

I'd have another but much prefer the pre-MPi shape saloons; a J-reg with an MPi mill would be GR12.

I had a black auto one of these, it was mint and I sold it for 40 quid!

Mind you this was 10 years ago when it was worth 30.

I didn't know these had a mad single spoke steering wheel.  Previous excessive want levels now increased further.  They have quite simply one of the best rear ends ever designed, I don't care who disagrees with me on that one.

Saw it today and must say I really like it, and it's not the type of thing I'd usually go for.

£100, 200ish miles driven, sometimes at speed and not a single thing went wrong, i really like this car and wouldnt have looked twice previously.

In my search for a cheap dizzler I've found this!

It may still have some mot on it and it's more in my price range at £150

It's a 1.3 pez so no doubt it'll be utterly crap. Brilliant.

When the insurance company ask "Has it got an immobiliser, or a tracker or an alarm"  the answer is to laugh, and say "who the F**K would be that sad to want to steal this?"

Bargain, and makes me wish I'd never bought the wife a BMW Mini.

That awesome steerage hoop reminds me very much of a BX direction controller.

I thought BX the first time I seen it too.

Yep, I knew I remembered something '80s Citroenesque about the interior.

With the search for a nice set of wheels for the proton I was looking for something retro in 4x114.3mm fitment, I looked into old datsun wheels which were going to cost the same amount as I paid for the car, found a set of mgb 4 spoke revolutions but found I'd need to faff around with sleeved nuts in order to fit them.

Then I found these on the blue forum for £25

A short time later and some sanding and spraying they looked like this

I got the tyres from the Renault speedlines

Now fitted to the rostyles and on the car...

Hey, those looks better than I thought they would on the car.

Now lowered?

Posted

It was lowered before, a coil chopped on each corner by the previous owner.

Oh right! It seems more obvious on these wheels. Looks well though, so it does.

That's one of those things that if someone described to you, you'd go "Don't be a twat" but then actually turns out pretty sweet.

That looks surprisingly decent. I would never have considered Rostyles could look good on anything other than seventies BL tin but this has been a pleasant surprise. 10/10 excellent work!

I'm going to do something foolish when I've got some pocket money, I can just see it happening, and it's going to be all your fault.
