vulgalour Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 EDIT: Autoshiters save beige car yet again. Continued offers of help pouring* in are gratefully received but not, presently, required. Know that you are awesome and you all earn an internet JRG Star for Services to Shite :END EDIT I've been here for about a fortnight and just received a call telling me that if I don't shift all my Princess stuff it's going to have to be scrapped. No joy at all hearing that. The two reasons are that the garage and shed the beige one is stored in have to be demolished for serious work to the water ways, something that will facilitate the digging up of a lot of back gardens including the one the beige car is kept in at present. I have no local alternative storage for her and I'm presently completely flat broke 100 miles further north having just moved house. The other reason is that the body panels and Lotus alloys, as well as the nose end of the orange car and the red Princess have been reported to the Council as 'scrap' and my Dad has been instructed to dispose of them as soon as possible, which he likely will if I don't stick my oar in and try my best to save at least the useful/valuable bits. The red Princess is being saved and should be off to its new home on this Sunday coming, this time the plan really does have to work. The reason that I mention this is that I yet again am putting out a cry for help. I've asked a lot of Autoshite this year and it's given a lot too. I'm fully prepared - and massively saddened - that I may have to sign the beige one and the spares off for scrap. I'm just completely stuck. Financially I'm wiped out, all that money I raised to move house has done its job, the hike in my insurance premium when I changed address finished off the last of my savings and now I'm at the bottom of my overdraft working my way up again. Without proper internet I can't tout successfully for new work and having had an important cable disappear for my scanner I can't progress further on current commissions. This is further compounded by having only temporary internet until at least the 11th of August, so I can't even transfer pictures to people for approval/changes and the like. This is, in a word, frustrating. If anyone can help in any way I will be massively grateful. We have been quoted £140 to get the Princess and most of the stuff collected by trailer and that, really, is what I need to get this sorted. If anyone else can help get this car up north where I can get the work done on it to keep things going as they were before my world imploded I will appreciate anything you can offer. Please do forgive my seemingly endless pleas for help lately. I'm as uncomfortable asking for them as you are reading them, but if you don't ask you don't get.
ShiteRider Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Not much help really but i'll happily chuck £20 your way as a start. I'd give more if i could but i'm counting pennies myself. fordperv, vulgalour and privatewire 3
KruJoe Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I can offer free storage until end of August (no longer, because reasons*).It's outside, but quite secure, you know where, BD23, about half way north. Also happy to lend a small/med sized trailer, cages can be attached to the sides to pile stuff high in it. I could maybe tow that about for you. Also an A-frame and associated guff available to borrow FOC, though I'm not really happy pulling a Princess with my 216. Is there a towbar on that Xantia? I'd drive and tow the Princess behind that for you if you're not confident.I know the wedge isn't 'on the road' but that wouldn't bother me too much, as long as the whole rig doesn't look like we're taking the piss. Edit: You know there's also 50p/l fuel available for the Xant. Cheggers, vulgalour, HillmanImp and 1 other 4
laser wheels Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I'm really sorry to here about the beige Princess especially after all the work that you have put into it. What I don't understand, though, is how can the council force someone to scrap a car? And what sort of miserable busy body would report someones car as 'scrap'? I just wish I could help. vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 Peril averted! Coming soon: pictures of Princess with PROUDLY SPONSORED BY AUTOSHITE badly written all over it. Seriously guys, you're too awesome. I only hope I do you proud. Not only have you saved the beige one, but you'll have got her to a proper restoration garage along with many, possibly all, of her spares intact. I hope I don't have to ask for help again for a VERY long time now. laser wheels, fordperv, derskine and 2 others 5
privatewire Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 More than happy to lob in £20 too, pm me address or whatever. fordperv and vulgalour 2
vulgalour Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 @laser_wheels: there was an incident some years ago where a guy welding his car down the street accidentally exploded his petrol tank, setting his car and most of his face on fire and giving a neighbour's rabbit a fatal heart attack. Since then, Staveley Council have this crazy approach to any reports of 'scrap' cars or people working on cars in the street. They will (and have) turn up and take things away if you don't act promptly enough to meet their demands and I don't rightly know how they get away with it. At least two Datsuns and a Carlton have met their fate this way in the past.
Parky Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Happy to bung a few quid your way Angyl, PM me your address and something will head your way. Make sure you pay it forward though!
vulgalour Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 I'm getting that much love lately I'm not sure I can pay it forward! All I can really offer is free rides in the Princess, but I offer those to shiters anyway without them having to be anything other than not-horrible to me. Tell you what, hold onto the cash pennies for now and if I get stuck again I'll shout and you can throw pennies really hard at my face because I've clearly been feckless. privatewire 1

No application forms, no pre approvals, and the money could be in your account within 15 minutes (if we happen to be logged on at the time, other timescales are available). vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 @Tayne: it's the standard power cable as you'd plug into a computer tower or monitor. I have one in the post, just waiting for it to arrive. I did pack all the cables together when I moved but that one appears to have buggered off which is pretty annoying. Next thing it will do is refuse to acknowledge the wireless network because it does that every time I have to set the thing up. Then it'll pretend it can't see certain shades of the colour blue, which is great since blue is a fairly common colour... My scanner is a bit rubbish, another brand new thing I bought that turned out to be so. I should just stick to ancient second-hand things, they've always served me much better.
fordperv Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 im so glad you've got sorted vulg, i was about to ask for your paypal addy also
vulgalour Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 I feel dangerously close to being popular right now. I'm not used to this sort of thing.
barefoot Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 ... and giving a neighbour's rabbit a fatal heart attack. Have Staveley Council really got money to spend performing autopsies on pet bunnies?I'm guessing the roads/services/libraries etc. must be superb.
castros_bro Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Can't help but here is a picture of a Portuguese ant trying to take my lunch one morsel at a time. vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 @barefoot: you'd think that, wouldn't you? But no. No they're not.
