Fumigate It Again Tony

I haven't had one as bad as this before. Hidden bonus* of used tea bag, emulsified crisps/pop mixture and somethings I truly didn't want to investigate too deeply. The pro Hoover thing didn't touch it, so the cleaning kit for the rear foot well comprised scrubber, interior cleaner, hot water screwdriver and wire brush.

You should try driving it 70 odd miles.

What was that used as previously? A mobile knocking shop/homeless shelter?

If someone sold me a car with a tea bag or duff alternator I would litterally. And I mean litterally.

Believe it or not all that was UNDER the mat in the n/s/r footwell!

Anyhow for three hundred of your earth pounds it was still a bloody bargain. Front n/s brake had 'just started to make a noise' possibly the pads, but it stops ok. The heater did work, right until the point where I stopped on the way home to jet wash it and when I put the rear wiper on the heater stopped working!!!

The lady said one rear indicator was dodgy, thankfully it was the passenger side, didn't fancy braving the M55, M6, M56 and M53 with no offside one. Journey home was eventful thanks to a wanker in a Picasso (yeah, I know) who was just inches from rear bumper on the M6 despite having plenty of room and time to overtake. Volley full of mouthed verbal abuse and hand gestures in his direction, the bloke in the passenger seat looked really embarrassed and waved an apology. A handful of miles later some old dickhead in a Fiesta decided to try and join my lane as I was level with him. Even hand on the horn didn't make much difference, I think his passenger talked him out of the manoeuvre, lucky for both of us. Then a BMW tried to overtake on the inside, nearly rammed my lad's car and was flashing his lights with rage veering all over the lanes. A gestured suggestion he joined me on the hard shoulder for some Marquis of Queensbury funw as ignored and he continued driving full tilt using every lane possible. Twat.

Anyhow, I've given the interior a good going over and started trying to polish the outside, my daughter is absolutely delighted with the car and that's the main thing.

Bargain price mind!

Glad she's happy with it. A happy woman is a job well done and an achievement to be commended.

Yurk, That just gave me a hellish flashback to a Corolla..... My grandad always changed cars every few years, and when he was getting on for 90 he decided to give up driving so passed his Corolla on to me. it only had 9k miles on it, and was just 3 years old iirc. He folded the rear seats down and left them permanently down so his big hairy Alsation could ride in the back.

Giving me his car was a lovely thing to do, and I really cant complain about that, but fuck me it stank. I had to drive it 150 miles home with all four windows open to avoid puking. The hairs had worked their way into the weave of the fabric so it wouldnt just hoover up.

I took it to the local Kosovan Kar Wash place and was told to fuck right off once they saw it. I went round a few different auto valet places with similar results.

In the end I did it myself with a rubber grooming brush bought from a horsey place to pull the hairs out, then a fuck-load of hoovering. I got a nuclear-strength air freshener off ebay and bunged it up for sale.

all the hair that had fallen into the rear footwell was choked into the carpet too.

Reminds me of when my dad bought an Escort from Blind Dogs for the Guides, we managed to get most of it out but the rest.... tweezers :-(

Also, I still didn't wash the back seat from when my sis-in-law's spaniel through up over it. And he's been dead 6 months

That would be a very intriguing set of circumstances to lead to Dolly Parton having her head shaved in the back of a Fiat Punto by Cavette.

That is a proper barg - you can't go wrong for 300 notes, even if it succumbs to terminal ECU meltdown in a couple of months' time.  I was tempted myself - at least you nabbing it has saved me from buying yet another car I have no use for...

Are these really that cheap now?   I could properly upset my mate in Cyprus with this car, as he has one he bought brand new as a daily.  And his dad has a fleet of them as rentals!

I reckon it was a bit of a one off, Eddie. Older models are usually more expensive than this, the lady had had enough of the car plus having four kids meant it was impracticable for her. So she bought a 1999 Zafira instead. Quite clearly, she knows her onions!

Lad at work suggested that you paid approx £300 too much for it based upon his own experience of Punto ownership. I have not driven this generation but he seems to think its even worse than the old one which i cant believe as it really was awful IMO. Whats your opinion?
