Great pics- looking forward to the show season now!! I love V8 Pilots, why don't you see more of them? I also kind of like those half-car trailors, but they only really work when being towed by the same model they're made from!! Since the number plate on that one doesn't match the Veedub it's fastened to, I guess it's been borrowed? LOTS of good stuff can be seen in the background of these shots: Mk 2 Zody, lovely looking Ford Thames, couple of "Aunty" Rovers, a nice looking '50s Yank pick-up, a Corsair convertable, a GT 40 ( ) an Ital, a Sunbeam Talbot and a Sunbeam Rapier Mk 3!!

Great selection!!! That Midi is something else, I woulda been all over that with my tongue out.Arent those E30's beautiful. I have never really been into them, but they are such a classic shape its difficult not to admire them when you see a nice one. I think I like the 4-dr saloon best of all of them.

Posted

+1. The early E30 (with chromed bumpers) is such a nicely-proportioned, well-detailed thing.But that 1.3L Cortina 80 is fantastic!

This look could really catch on:

I had CKE 858K and CKE 843K on two VW Type 3's

Nice pics from Newark, I've been 3-4 times and dont think I've seen any of those..

Hirst Cabs!

That's the one which was on eBay not that long ago, I kept an eye on it but the bidding went out of my reach. Glad to see someone else boshing a taxi sign on it and pressing it into use.

Cool.

A few years ago this was in mint condition. He's really let it go now though and the arches are all rusty :(

There was a time when the Datsun 1000 was bigger than the Fiat 500! Actually this angle doesn't show just how much bigger the Fiat is.

Bit of an update, mostly show stuff but a couple of randoms in there too. First one is for Fred. This Transit has covered only 5000-odd miles and was in storage for years. Reckons not to have been restored - certainly the inside is just as it left the factory:

Oops, almost missed you! Really tatty Subaru wagon:

Posted Image

Late-model Marina van:

Posted Image

I've seen this Sunny coupe a couple of times and it's absolutley stunning. The owner however is the most unlikely person EVAH to own such a car, being a chap who's knocking on a bit and ought really to have an Austin Cambridge.

Lovely Mk1 Carlton owned by an Autoshiter I believe:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Stunning Escort Ghia:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Quite early for a Manta B:

Posted Image

Lovely Mk IV Cortina. I think when there is space on my drive next it may be filled by one of these:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Extremely rare 101 Victor estate:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Another Mk IV, this time at the opposite end of the scale being a 1.3L 2-door. This must be a really rare one:

Posted Image

Posted Image

More 80s Ford niceness, this concours XR3i is a pretty late one:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Contrary to appearances this is actually a van cut down and still has the bottom half of the rear doors intact! Owner said he wanted a steel pick-up but couldn't find one so he made his own:

Posted Image

Always liked 50s Rootesmobiles, this Gazelle was particularly attractive:

Posted Image

Red interior overload on this early Mustang:

Insert driveway/horse fair/where's your caravan jokes here:

Stunning late MG Metro Turbo:

Fulvia coupe looks well used, who wouldn't want to drive this all the time:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4323.jpg

Shock as povvo spec Mk1 2-door is restored to original spec:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4326.jpg

I really liked this Mk2 Mexico; stunning colour and all standard too:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4319.jpg

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4316.jpg

Rare Mk2 Cav estate. I've almost forgotten what these looked like:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4315.jpg

Bug:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4312.jpg

This low-mileage Escort XL belongs to a chap I know and it is really lovely in totally original condition:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4309.jpg

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4310.jpg

Spotted this well-looked after Sid and Doris Escort at a motorway services. It was towing a dinky little caravan too!

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_4253.jpg

Obligatory Mondeo taped up bumper shot:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_3872.jpg

And lastly, this lovely little Austin A30. I'm not normally a big fan of 50s and 60s BMC stuff but this caught my eye being totally stock and not overdone plus it has a local reg number so has been in the area all its life. Possibly even supplied new by Gordon Armstrong's in my home town:

MK4 'Tina 2dr is indeed mega rare, although there are more Taunus-badged ones floating about on in mainland errrp. I'd love one!

Ragtop Sherpa is probably my fave though, needs to be taken to an MG owners club rally and parked in between the two most immaculate Bs there...

BXs have all but disappeared round here so it was nice to see a locally registered one:

Ratdat's really cool Acty:

Bit of a cheat since you only see C6s in captivity, this one on dealer stand at a show:

Ace old combine, wouldn't want to fall off the seat!

Locally registered Civic. Will have to keep my eye on this one as it's mint:

Unlikely car and caravan combo:

Posted Image

Some show ones now. Newby Hall near Ripon first:

This Avenger was awesome and a very early one too:

Posted Image

I do like an early P6, this one with the rare optional wires:

Posted Image

OK not shite by any means, but I can't resist a vintage car of this quality and this Talbot was beautifully made, I can't stress enough just what a fabulous machine it is:

Posted Image

Hirst Cabs Aidensfield. This a genuine diesel and was a taxi in York:

Posted Image

Rare Commerciale Traction; the first hatchback:

Posted Image

Very nice Dauphine:

Posted Image

Posted Image

This is an odd one, I should have taken a bit more notice but I think it was badged 213 or some such odd number rather than the expected 190 ar 220 :?

Posted Image

Unusual pre-war Merc. You can just see the owners club tent too with their champagne and lobster looking buffet. Pretentious twats. Nice cars mind.

Posted Image

This Javelin looked freshly restored. Extremely nice.

Posted Image

Stuff your RS I want one of these:

Posted Image

Posted Image

No idea but it's cool:

Posted Image

Not the Top Gear one:

Posted Image

Posted Image

Railton owners club put on a good selection of what are incredibly rare machines. Also present were three Brough Superiors which are even more scarce. Shame they look like a 70s kit car lash-up!!

Posted Image

Holding you up since 1926. Jeremy Cholmondley-Clarkson would have written a stern column in The Autocar:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j188/1300mash/Misc%20Cars/IMG_5143-1.jpg

More cool Americana, a 60s Buick Skylark:

More to come

Wow, where to begin....

The Datsun 1000: there's one sitting quietly in a field here, I can probably lay hands on it if and when the desire strikes me strongly enough. It does deserve to be rescued.

Victor 101 Estate: anyone remember an episode of The Sweeney where Jack Regan turned up to a crimescene in his own car after a particularly heavy night? It was a 101 Estate...

Transit: just gorgeous.

Red interior in the Mustang: Detroit has always been good at colour-coding interiors. It makes the grey and beige that's foisted on the rest of the world look pretty sick, doesn't it?

No idea: it's a Buick Special from about 1963. The 1961 series had a 215 cu. in. V8, all aluminuim. Sound familiar? 215 = 3528cc, if that helps. My 1980 Buick Century had a 3.8 iron-block V6...

I remember playing on things like that Massey Ferguson combine harvester in the 60s when I was primary-school age. My dad sold farm machinery, so in the summer holidays we would pile into the Zephyr and caravan, and go round the agricultural shows with him. I couldn't get enough of tractors and combines...

Mercedes owners? Pretentious twats? What on earth gave you that idea?

If that navy blue Sierra is a 2.0 GL, it's the twin of my parents' last car.

I love this site, it's rich with memories....

Here's my selection from the BL Rally, I'll try not to duplicate too much.

Allegro LE. I used to see loads of these but they're almost extinct now:

Posted Image

Possible car of the show for me was the Y-reg MG Metro:

Posted Image

Not seen a Rover one as nice as this for a long time. GTa?

Posted Image

Rock and Roll baby!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Nothing special you might think except that this Oxford was unbelievably clean, such mintiness under the wings as I have never seen on one of these:

Posted Image

These early (non-Vignale) Vanguard IIIs are extremely rare:

Posted Image

LDs are one of my fave vans but not in this early incarnation and shitty colour scheme...

Posted Image

Y-reg Allegro. Pleeeease buy it, we need to clear the space for the Maestro:

Posted Image

Two extremely nice Rover 400s for sale at a bargainous £500 apiece or thereabouts. I was particularly taken with the red one:

Posted Image

Posted Image

This 45 looked like it was just out of the showroom. How on earth do you keep a car as minty fresh as this?

Posted Image

Posted Image

Early Maxis line up. I'd have one of these for the curiosity value but the one on the right had modern seats and Equipe wheels and so on which to me defeats the object of owning on of the first ones:

Posted Image

I thought this Maestro must be quite late for a "proper" one:

Posted Image

The 505 from the car park in all its glory:

Posted Image

That's a little unfair isn't it?!

Posted Image

Proper Mini:

Posted Image

Tidy Passat in car park:

Posted Image

This was tidy and pretty early too. Only 18000 miles:

Posted Image

Very rare smaller Wolseley 4/50:

Posted Image

And it's big brother. Always wanted a police spec 6/80 but under the bonnet looks a bastard to work on. Nick Larkin was sat near this stuffing his face!

Posted Image

Hot indeed:

Posted Image

Tidy Maestro, I like the wheels on this spec:

Posted Image

This MG was supplied locally to me, so nice to see:

This 45 looked like it was just out of the showroom. How on earth do you keep a car as minty fresh as this?

It's a 45 with a petrol engine, it'll give itself a regular steam cleaning.

Nice pics, I think my favourite is the two-tone gold Montego. Lovely!

Posted

GR8 UPD8! That prewar Talbot is incredibly cool.

Posted Image

A 219 probably then.

Posted

219 that's it, cheers Michiel! I had a mental blockage for some reason but that makes sense!

Posted

Couple of randoms from the weekend

Posted Image

This K11 gets three spot points for being the earliest one I've seen in ages, for having a Hull reg number and being ever so slightly grubby! Also I think the guy in the car parked opposite thought I was a bit crackers.

Posted Image

Posted

I must admit I would probabily hesitate in snapping such a recent Micra (I won't really take snaps of the previous generation unless its an early one) but your logic is crystal clear - in years to come you'll be glad you took it. I'll have to try and get into that mindset. Those 240's are magnificent cars.

Posted

All the tractor shite you can eat! Oh memories... I used to have a Viva van in a very similar blue, hand-painted by my Dad. I'd love to find one over here, I think the police used them. I know they did in Cheshire!

My mate is usually at Pickering. Did you spot an alloy-wheeled white Volvo 740 estate on an E prefix?

Posted

Nice pics, I think my favourite is the two-tone gold Montego. Lovely!

It's up for sale at the moment for £795!

Blimey, Mash that show looked great! I would love to go a steam fair, they seem to attract alot of great Lorries and Vans but they never advertise them very well. The Mazda pickup is brilliant, the Spacevan 'fire engine' is too and I saw that old Dennis Fire tenders twin on the same day! Both ex Hants.

Posted

The Mazda B1800 is incredible, I've only ever seen a completely derelict one in the flesh.

Posted Image

I love the name of the old crane. RUSTON BUCYRUS

Posted

Supaminks estate!

Posted Image

Wondering about whether having a "steam fair" is actually a way of getting what looks like it might have eventually become a complete, laid road across your land for free.

"Tarmac yer drive?"

"Nah, put a road across here will ya!"
