Can anyone identify this vehicle? The image is of the Baker and his wife outside their shop (now a house) in my village.

Cars of that era are very difficult to identify as they tended to have coach-built bodies to suit the user. The best clue is radiator shell - which looks stepped - with associated fluting in the bonnet.

No details for the fiats, MK1 escorts, Corsair, zephyrs,or Hillman's.

MK2 super made it to Feb 86,

The 1600E.  Comes up as an 1100 escort that made it to 90?

The zodiac comes up as a 1600E that made it to Dec 96?

It's difficult to find a good photograph from the same sort of angle but the unusual arrangement of rear spring shackle, 10-spoke wheels with five wheelnuts, and the relief on the side of the bonnet all looks like just-pre WW1 Mors to me

Thanks, I checked the registrations to see if anything came up, it looks like some plate swapping took place.  I was impressed at how long some lasted when cars were lucky to have a decade on the roads.

XTW 368F was the first Twin Cam Escort. It was used in the original publicity material and was  a press car.

Car Magazine article were you can see the GT 40 style stripes and the Rostyle wheels that the production cars never had.

The car was later thrashed and trashed by Roger Clark.

Check the DVLA car info site it does not show up, but on the MoT site it does.

These are all the records on the site.

Other XTW cars were seen in motorsport.

'Put a Tiger in Your Tank' - was a big Esso marketing drive in the 60's.

I remember you could get a 'fur' tiger tail  to attach to the filler cap of your car - to make it look like there was an actual 'tiger' in the tank.

I saw that ramp every working day for 30 years! Seeing this picture has given me goosebumps, even though I left 10 years ago!

Presumably this:

Screenshot_20250522_084330_Chrome.jpg.38f3fa793d9f3d3870a1062edecd1f27.jpg

The car is a very early 60's Humber Super Snipe. Photo must be around 1968 when the terminal opened - so the Snipe was not exactly new by then.

Thought exactly the kind of car a well-heeled traveller or a pilot would have owned.
