Also real grit on the roads, not just salt.

Most people back then had 5ish miles to work, people couldn't afford the time off.

From what I remember main roads etc were reg 4 inch deep if your car would get you to one.

Looks like South Wales, probably 1982 to 84, when there we're several real snowfalls. That Capri has a TG identifier, which was Glamorgan.

In 1982 the snow was so high in our street, that you walked on top of it with your feet at car roof level. So, no cars even attempted to move for several days. You're right though, once main roads were clear, everyone got on with it.

Cortinas and Capris were spectacularly bad in the snow (or even wet tbh). Don’t suppose the Avenger would have been much better.

The shop you see on the further corner, Alex Thom, was a Honda bike dealer. They were a very old established firm, and down the side turning they kept a 1939 Brough Superior on display in the window right through my youth. We lived in the next turning on the right after Thom's just out of shot.

Edit:- Just looked it up, we lived in the second turn after Thom's not the first.

This is the further end of City Road, Cardiff from the City Centre. At one time, there we're 72 car dealers along City Road, now there's just one, but there must be 72 fast food shops, as this is now a student area.

Henri Vallée’s ‘Pantoufle’ had a wind-cheating aluminium body and torquey 7.6-litre flat four engine. The transmission was a drive belt and it relied on the belt slipping to get it into motion. Needless to say this slippage in lieu of a gearbox proved its downfall and it failed to complete the 1899 Tour de France.
