This box was on the A30, between Exeter and Honiton and the registration of the car to which the message applied is an Exeter one, so appropriate to the area.

Old enough for the memory to fade? 😉

I'm fairly sure the pedestrianisation between Trafalgar Square and the Portrait Gallery wasn't put in until the early 2000s. 2003ish, I think.
