'Nurses demonstrate extra freedom and mobility with latest culotte dresses for uniforms', in 1967 (honestly, that's the title).

That's the very rare hood ornament option, not often ticked on the options list when ordering your sharp new 1973 full-size automobile; this ain't your grandaddy's Buick!

1968 ADVERT - ROVER P6 2000

Smug 60's advertising kind of sums up the era really... and the British  manufacturers attitude generally.

Ad associates Rover with a junk yard - and says  the car is better than this lot... Of course by '68 the P6 had been in production 5 years so a bit of an old crock by then anyway. The competition  was catching up...

Meanwhile at Ford they were doing this aspirational  advertising  and of course  it worked. Even the Queen got a Granada.

I don't know Halifax that well so I couldn't tell you. Here's a couple of other Hfx ones (pinched from here) - both of Cow Green

Minx(?) vs Consul(?) imminent RTA centre bottom?
Note brave pedestrians risking life and limb to use the zebra (and two of Halifax's finest bobbies on hand to write up both RTAs.

Few years later, town planners have spent £££s installing a subterranean pissoir (sorry, pedestrian underpass)  to reduce accidents. Smell of urine is so bad that Mr Cloth Cap there in the centre island chancing it above ground. Be ironic if the road roller got him.......
(Bagsies the P6 please)

The roundabout rules were not standardised to the rules we all know and love until 1966.  This picture could easily be older than ‘66. Note the lack of road paint indicating “give way”.

On its third lap drifting around the roundabout - there's a dab of opposite lock going on there......

Perhaps not.

Taking advantage of the Consul having parked up next to the lovely round grassy picnic area.

Note also the life size tin soldier in front of the lorry on the left, also heading for the new fangled round roadside picnic area thing.

I wondered if the Ford was stationary too. 'Keep Left' is fine, if you know which hand is which.

'Here and here and here. The whole thing is effing effed mate, much like the whole British industry, mark my words'

There is really a lot going on in that photo.

The Hillman V Ford.

The "soldier" in front of the gully cleaning lorry.😉

The lorry in the distance which seems to have a huge crane jib and a load of poles overhanging the rear.

The road layout is abysmal, where the bus is approaching.

Two policemen stand over to the left in front of the shop.

The direction sign, at the bottom right, does not match the road layout.

I think it was part of The National Undertakers Awards.. .

It is an industry  like any other...

My advice...never get in a Private Ambulance and if you are going to a hosp'...make sure it is an 'ital not an 'ice.

Now I wouldn't stick two fingers up at that (a joke for our younger viewers).

Spoiler

It's Harvey Smith, a famous equestrian of the the 1970's, who became infamous by sticking two fingers up at the judges during a 1971 show jumping event
