Manor cabs (on Manor road) Gravesend. I love the cap and neck scarf I think this should still be the standard taxi driver apparel in 2024.

The Chatham motor company (now a Wickes that has sod all stock).

I briefly visited the Alexandra pub in the background a couple of weeks back and doubt its changed much since this image was captured.

My Dad bought a Bedford CA Utilabrake there in 1969. (There’s one on the forecourt but I’d guess the photo was around 1960).
There was also a tyre place just out of shot , (top left where the lorry is turning in), that he used to go to as well. I remember getting a promotional car based snakes and ladders type game from there. It was only card, but my Dad pasted it to a board and we had it for years. Pre computer games, I doubt if any kid these days would even look at it.

My first car (Fiesta mk1) had 145 wide tyres. The space saver I have now is 135.
