Well done Rich!

Yay, a picture of it - can't believe I didn't take some at the weekend. (Blame the beer, the lager, the cider, the gin and the vodka)

Ha ha, have another!

It was Malham Safari weekend, Zippy came up with JohnF and some mates. I joined them on Saturday night for a skinful of free beer, and I forgot my brolley on the field of dreams. On Sunday I took the Ferreter back down to the field to give it a run out, and fetch my brolley. I asked Zippy if he wanted to buy it. He did, so he left a deposit (with his pants in place). Simples.

Postage: Free Standard Delivery

Delivery: Estimated Between Thu. 29 May and Fri. 6 Jun.

Feedback: Quick response and fast payment. Excellent buyer. A+++

Has to be the most relaxed and spontaneous vehicle purchase I have ever made.

The hangover is only just clearing now (whatever that cider was, it was EVIL)

It's arrived, sorry no epic collection thread as it was very kindly delivered by Krujoe the other night, haven't been able to do an obligatory petrol station shot yet as it was left with half a tank in it.

Here's an alternative first photo of it in my possesion (badly parked)

All in all it seems so far so good, bit of a list of attention it will be getting :-

- 2 new rear hubs due to noisy wheel bearings and lack of ABS

- Investigation of non-working auxiliary fan, causing the OMG EML to light up (diagnosed on my £5.99 ebay special code reader)

- Service & possibly cambelt

- Bit of a tidy up of some of the parking scrapes

- Bit of a clean inside and out

If it goes well over the next couple of months it will become the daily driver once I surrender my company car in August

Nice.

Often considered, but not yet rolled the dice on one of those.

I've had a few of those in my watch list recently, 2000-ish for surprisingly low prices. They're a bit complex that scares me buying a cheap one, if it threw a wobbly I'd have no chance.

Also, nearly losing job meant I steered clear of buying an unnecessary vehicle.

Yeah, it looks a bit complicated, but was bought for a very fair price, so won't be totally up shit creak if it throws a wobbly

It's weird seeing it on proper plates Zippy, glad they came to you quick.

JOE UR SUCH A TART

Not me! It was my old man's and the plates are now on his new* 1995 RAV4, and a right bloody PITA they were to transfer. Another reason why I'd never have my own plates.

This Ferreter will be proper rapid on those lanes around where Zippy lives, with its long suspension travel, and its point-and-squirtiness.

Plates arrived the following day, super quick service.

Managed to blag a pair of S turbo rear hubs, complete with all the arms and the ABS sensors etc for £80 for the pair from a scooby breaker on evilbay

Hey, that's pretty good service on both counts!

Owing to a recent change in circumstances I need to re-arrange the fleet.

I have a new company car arriving this week which will take up position as "daily drive" and the BMW is now sold pending collection (tomorrow hopefully)

The discovery is staying for towing / off roading duties.

This now brings me to the ferreter, I don't really have any further need for it and the insurance is due at the end of this month. I have spent an absolute fortune on it the last year (approximately £2k) and now has all of the niggly faults sorted out. This therefore being Autoshite means that I should now sell it at a loss ......

Work done includes :-

- Sept 2014 (Service, MOT, front brakes, rear wheel bearings, ABS sensors, resolve wiring fault on ECU causing ABS light) - £700

- Dec 2014 (Cambelt and rear shocks) - £755

- Jan 2015 (Full stainless exhaust from the cat backwards) - £350

- Jan 2015 (4 Winter tyres, fitted on a spare set of alloys) - £300

- Feb 2015 (Rear springs, resolve issue with cooling fan causing EML, regas aircon) - £150

I'm not totally commited on selling it, but am testing the water see if anyone is interested in taking it on. Mechanically is now spot on, but the bodywork has a few slight scrapes and bruises, there is also a bit of a rust bleb on each of the front wings. It's MOT'd until mid-September.  Mileage is 63000.

It owes me a fortune, so I'm not giving it away or raffling it. Completed ebay listings show anywhere between £2k for a minter or £750 for a spares/repairs project.

Webuyanycar have valued it at £965, which if anyone from here wants it, that's the price I'll take. I'd want another £200 for the spare set of wheels with the new winter tyres on (as we've another Subaru here that they can be used on)

It will have "get you home tax" if bought before 31/5/15 when I will have to SORN it.

Edit: It's in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire and I *may* be able to assist with transport (free delivery within 30 miles if you take me home again - or by negotiation if further)

Bollocks, it's Manuel, if it was Heather Mills spec I'd probably have been interested.

as a ball park figure, what are these like on petrol, are they ok or ruinously expensive?

have had designs on one of these for a while, but the been a whole subaru looks like a whole load of trouble if anything goes wrong with it. they are i'm guessing a complexed piece of kit?

glws by the way....

If it's driven like you've stolen it it will do about 23mpg or up to 32mpg on a run at 75-80mph.

I've spent a load on it as I don't really do my own spannering beyond oil changes. They are generally reliable, but when stuff goes wrong it can be expensive, as I've found out when replacing a lot of the "consumable" type parts

that is better than i thought, for some reason i had high 20's to the gallon in mind, and not a eye watering as the jaguar can manage.

saying that low 20's isn't that bad i guess for a 4 litre, a volvo 240 (another motor i would love to own at some point) will manage around the same....

Is this the 2.0 flat four engine?

Yes, and the turbo version
