Free toy cars - some shite, some shit.

I have just returned unexpectedly to the UK for a brief period of time, and upon arrival was presented with my childhood collection of Matchbox, Corgi, Majorette, Siku, Dinky and assorted other toy model cars. As I now have have a pathological fear of owning anything in this world that does not fit inside my rucksack, I need to re-home them.

I'm sure that if I really wanted to, I could advertise the lot on the Bay of Mong, but the small smattering of cash money received would in no way make up for dealing the inevitable 'tards that frequent the place. Therefore, if anybody on here wants one or many more of them, fill your boots.

Condition ranges from GR4 to GR12, there are numerous makes and models and various sizes. I'm pretty sure none of them are worth any good money but I thought I would see if anyone on here has a hankering for anything missing from a collection or just lusts after a scabby Fiat 1500 or a Mk3 Escort British Gas van with opening rear doors.

Anything still with me in a few weeks time, when I head off back to Abroadland, will be donated to be wrecked by eager Bulgarian children.

All i would require is postage, or collection from SE England. Mega bonus kudos for anyone stupid passionate enough to collect a Majorette Citroen Visa Chrono or suchlike and post a collection thread on it.

The majority are from the '80s, there is some older stuff too and also an '80s Matchbox carrycase (as pictured).

I have photographed a few and may even get round to posting a full list if there is any interest.

At the risk of sounding like some old bird from Attic Hunt or Cash In The Country, I just want them to go to a good home and be appreciated.

Some pictures of some of the hundreds available.

(I think it's only fair to give Lord Sterling the first dibs on the boxed Mk1 Rover 800 Sterling).

The cannon on the back of the truck above fires matchsticks at a great velocity, perfect for children who like eye injuries/hospital visits.

Mucho Gracias :)

Kin ell free are you sure? Reckon people would pay good money for these.

I'm not into toy cars anymore since my Burago collecting habits back in the day so will let other more deserving peeps fill their boots.

However I am tempted by the Rancho if no one else wants it....

Yes please on the Mk1 Sterling! Also can baggsy the Escort Van and Siku Audi 100 estate?

I would very much like the following:

White XR3i cab

Red Astra GTE

Burgandy Jag

Red Golf GTI

Yellow SD1 (unless one of the SD1-botherers on here wants it since I think that's quite a rare one)

As they're all identical to ones I had as a child, and have misplaced somewhere in the last *AHEM* years.

Where in SE England is SE England? If it's near Erith I could collect, but otherwise I'll paypal you postage.

The car transporter is worth quite a bit, I can assure you. As are the sixties bedfords. Be careful.

If you happen across any Majorette Renaults then I would gladly have them :)

True. The transporter would probably be well into three figures...

They absolutely would!  Even I would, and I'm tighter than Ken Bruce.  Not being one to look gift horses in the mouth though, I'm already trying to think of suitable models in my collection to display on the transporter. 8)   I have several transporters, in assorted scales and of assorted ages, so be assured I am a good home!

I'm certain* all the good people on this site would let me know if something is worth decent real life cash money.

Most are in varying degrees of 'played with' condition.

I am compiling a dibs list.

Not sure if the matchbox Bedfords are worth much but the Isetta and Bristol? next to it are Spot-on I think, and worth a lot.

I think there's a 5 Turbo in there(red one in the case)

I would like the 2 Capris & the white Volvo Estate please,I could also use the case :-)

You mean the Corgi Studebaker Hawk? ;-)

I'd happily rehome the Visa chrono and the deux chevaux! Assuming they haven't already been claimed.

I can paypal, no worries :)

Old Dinky lorries of the same era as your Bedford are worth MEGA coin, seriously.

Can I have the green Majorette BMW 7 series and the black Majorette Saab? Postage would be to FK4, but I'll PM you details and can PayPal what you require. Alternatively I was thinking of A framing the Saab with the BMW all the way back to Scotland!

If the Alitalia 131, Merde 2 and blue / turquoise 935 Moby Dick Porker to the left of pic 5 are looking for a new home, I'd be more than happy to cough up some postage...

Okay, wasn't expecting many takers but I'm now trying to compile a fair, first come first served dibs list.

I will be within walking distance of Gatwick Airport for the next few weeks.

I don't currently have pay-pal but I'm sure I can find a freind who has and is willing to pass on postage costs to me.

Quite a few of the models have tow-bars, so ideal for a-framing.

A comprehensive list of all models available is currently being written between visits to the booze fridge.

If nobody's laid claim to the little blue and big red Matra Ranchos I'd quite like them - and I think there's a Matchbox Escort RS2000 and  some kind of Quattro rally car in the first pic - if they are what I think they are I'd like those too. PayPal is the only way, though.

Will possibly add more when I see the full list.

These are, on the whole, in rather better condition than you normally find them on eBay so I think you're being supremely generous and brave offering them here for free.  The Matchbox carrycase is a rare thing and bound to be worth a bob or two.  In your shoes, I think I'd get them in on a specialist auction for collectibles without reserve and enjoy whatever they return, this is the sort of thing collectors and traders alike love.

There's a few in there I'd love to take off you for my own collection - Golf cabriolet, Visa, 2CV and NASA bus - but I'm completely broke so it's not going to happen.  I doubt you'll have any trouble finding these homes.

Can I have dibs on the Escort GAs VAn if nobody has blagged it yet?

Dinky stuff can be worth a fortune on the right day to the right person.

I'd echo what Vulgalour said, however I'm happy to offer you coin for the cars as well as carriage. PM'ed :-)

I agree.  Also, if Vulgalour does make it to the dibs list for any of the above, put them in my parcel.  I've got something for him anyway, he can have it all at once.

I think you're being foolish giving away the Dinky stuff and the older Matchbox cars. I wouldn't want to put a figure on the transporter (3 figures is realistic) but without boxes and in that condition the Matchbox cars are worth at least £20 each.

I'd love to take some off your hands but I have a 2 year old son who wouldn't let me give them the care they deserve

I like to think of it as good karma. Maybe if I waited months and spent hours listing and selling each one I might get a few quid, but if some of the good people here who provide me with masses of free entertainment would appreciate them, then all the better.

The car transporter is giving me second thoughts but as long as it's going to a good Ramrod home, I think that's worth more than money (and that's coming from someone who could not be more skint).

I think tomorrow is a safer bet for the full comprehensive list.
