Inappropriate diesel converted shite

I remember years ago seeing an ad in the autotrader for a tidy yellow mk1 capri gtxlr with a york diesel in it.

Seemed like a waste of a good car at the time.

The Capri's not such a good car and the York's not such a bad engine.

I think cortinadave on here owned that mk1 Capri diesel . From memory it blew up.

I think cortinadave's Capri diesel was a 1.8. The sensible option is to fit an Indenor diesel using Sierra 2.3D bits.

I remember practical performance car put a diesel in a Westfield. Not sure how it worked out though.

Is that a cut down sump for a bonnet scoop on the xantia powered thing !

Yep.

Earlier ones had the (more shite-worthy?) 2.3.

Anyone remember 'Buying Cars' magazine? I seem to remember Richard Wilsher popping a Ford 1.8td into a Westfield and called it the Weasel.

2.3 is the old Indenor Peugeot lump that's virtually extinct. Phased out for the 1.8 td, though some seemed to make it into some late sapphires.

Local hot-rod/ fabrication builder had a 1930s Ford pickup which he put a N/A transit banana engine in to use as his daily. From the outside all looked beautiful, but it always had that familiar racket.

Can't imagine the jag being that economical, 1.8td would be hard work in the Jag. Depending on the Axle the gearing would be all to cock as well.

I did wonder about this too. I suspect it will be very relaxed, though none too relaxing. In its defence, from the photos it does look quite flat where he lives.

He's happened chucked the Jag axle and installed the back cart springs and live axle off a Transit. As you would.

^re the jag- theres so much space in front of that diesel motah you could virtually stand in the engine bay to fettle it.

Edit- just noticed its got some odd looking door handles neatly let into the doors- can't quite ID them.

I can't work out what they are either. It has a X300 seats too.

In 9 months time we shall witness the birth of the worlds first steam/diesel hybrid.

Someone was putting a turbocharged OM606 into a Bentley 8 a while ago, on the vod forum. Don't think he ever reported back the job was totally finished, although he had it running. If you had an engineless Jag and wanted a dizzler for it, that would be the lump to fit.

Ranotor? Tell us more, please.

Nothing so advanced I'm afraid, just the bastard offspring of the unholy union betwixt the moustachioed Edwardian diesel powered cad and the delicate waif like steam engine.

Late model Rover 400?

I've just spent a week at Beamish museum, and one of their Daimler buses has what I swear by the noise is a Ford Di in it!! Guess it's practical for daily use! Does anyone know for sure??

I saw this on You Tube a while back.

Rolls Royce with a 3.3 straight six Nissan lump.

I love this.

That's quite local to me. I identified the road at the time but I can't quite remember where it was, somewhere around Dunfermline I think. The registration wasn't showing up on any car check sites when I looked.
